This place is good if youre stopping for the night and dont really plan on doing anything but taking a shower. The ac/heater worked well, the water got hot, and the room smelled very nice. They have free parking and the person that checked me in was very kind. Unfortunately, the bedding was tattered and filthy with what looked like coffee stains and possibly blood. There is no ceiling fan in the room, only 3 very dim lamps and you can hear every single noise being made in the hallway. To top it all off, i visited during the big freeze after a week with no power and water, trying to find a place to get warm and take my first shower in a while. No where else was answering and i was very desperate. They price gouged me hard core. A normal listing was only $51 dollars a night. They charged me $180 for 2 nights. I understand ripping people off to make a quick buck is extremely american and i shouldnt be surprised, i guess i just hoped i would at least get clean bedding out of it. Do not go here if you can possibly help it.

I chose the Econo Lodge because of the location and price. The location is good and close to attractions in New Braunfels, and the gentleman working the desk during the evening shift was helpful. However, that is where the positive aspects end. I booked a double bed non smoking room, and was put in what was clearly a smoking room - it reeked of cigarettes, and the pungent odor hit us as soon as we opened the door. During our 3-night stay, we also encountered 2 cockroaches on the vanity by the bathroom. There was also mold on the ceiling in the bathroom (see photo below). Even at $50 a night, these conditions are not worth the savings. The hotel did not have very good sound insulation and we had a neighbor who left the TV on all night, which we could hear quite clearly as well. The mini fridge made an ever-present sound like a semi truck idling. When using the toilet, you can hear what the person in the room next to you is doing... I had the experience of hearing someone vomiting during our last night. The room was dirty, roach-infested, mold-infested, loud, and smoke-smelling. If this room is an example of the other rooms Econo Lodge has to offer, RUN and spend the extra bucks to stay somewhere where you don’t dread coming back at night to attempt to sleep.

After getting here, we knew we had made a mistake, even though the reviews were highly praising. Upon getting there, we were greeted and checked in, informed no breakfast even though it says they were offering a take n go style. The main carpets were stained and had an odor. The rooms were adequate, not overly clean. About an hour after checking in, we were watching TV only to have our door opened by other guests that had been rented our room. I could understand this if they were busy but there was only a few of us here. We checked out and got to our next place that afternoon and realized that we had left our pillow and blanket, when called and asked of they had found it and could ship, we were told no. Needless to say, won't be staying here again!

I called to make a reservation for an employee. When our employee got there after work at 4 am the guy at the front desk was charging him a $50 deposit. So the employee called a manager and the manager was trying to give him a cc over the phone and the guy was telling him that it had to be CASH. So I called the next day to ask about this deposit cause I paid with our boss's cc over the phone and why were they charging him the $50 Deposit and the guy goes off on me and telling me that I was yelling at him when I was speaking correctly but he was the one yelling at me and I asked his name he said that he did not have to give out the info so I asked for the managers name and he said that he did not have to give me that info either. I told him for him being that way he was in the wrong business. (bad customer service) He told me he was in the correct business. So I asked him why he was yelling at me he said that he was sorry if he was speaking to me incorrectly so I told him hold up its ok for you to speak to me that way but not for me to speak to you the way I speak. Just from the beginning he went off me. I would not recommend staying there. He just wanted to pocket those $50 bucks. He sounded like he was mad for our employee showing up at 4am also.

The first couple nights were no issues. On the third night my husband and I had an accident ended up in the emergency room came out to the room rather late wanting to take a shower and relax. Came into the room to find that housekeeping had not come into our room no clean towels and my room is messy and the trash had not been thrown out. When I went to the front desk to ask for towels and ask why my room had not been cleaned the lady looked up in the computer and said my room have been clean which it had not and I have pictures to show what my room looks like when we return back that evening. The next morning I woke up and the light was out in the shower. I called up to the front desk and ask for like to be replaced and was told that the manager had the lightbulbs that they were not on the premises and she was not sure if the manager was coming in today. I advise that I was not willing to take a shower in the dark. I was informed that I Would be able to go 2 floors down to take a shower. I refuse that as I’m not staying in a dorm. So I had to shower in the dark. When I called up to the front desk the lady on the phone kept repeating everything I was saying to somebody else that was there. Then she put the other person on the phone that person told me that there was nothing that they could do that I can call back on Tuesday. Mind you this was Sunday morning. She told me that she was not even on the clock yet to be dealing with me. Front desk then called back up to my room spoke with my husband and told my husband that my room wasn’t clean because the do not disturb sign was up on the door. My husband and I have never used the do not disturb sign on our doors while traveling as we like to have clean towels daily. So staff was contradicting themselves by saying that my room was clean and then coming back in sane my room wasn’t clean because it do not disturb sign was on. Very poor customer service the staff was useless to me at this point. My husband and I were planning on staying at the facility another night and decided not to because of this customer service that was received or not received however you want to look at it. I will never be staying at this facility again. Below are pictures of my room when I got back on a Saturday night.
