Hotel in dire need of maintenance and renovation
Reviewed 18 september, 2021
Hotel looked nice in the photos, but the room had dirty walls, a rusted doorframe in the bathroom, mold around the ac vent, a desk that was surprisingly and excessively scratched up, a chair that had not been cleaned in some time as it had dried mud on the sides of the cushion. Based on the condition of the 2nd floor hallway, it was doubtful another room would have been much better. Just overall seemed in disrepair.
"Hilton loyalty doesn't matter, we're privately owned"

As a Hilton Diamond Member, frequent traveler and professional in the hospitality industry, an expectation was made to receive certain loyalty perks as detailed in my reservation on the Hilton app. Upon arriving, I noticed the "Diamond Member" parking signage in the middle of the lot amongst the overgrown hedges, which seemed odd, but assumed there was a reason to their usual location. Upon checking in there was zero mention of Hilton loyalty. When questioned about the perks, I was abruptly told "we do not honor the Diamond daily credit or room upgrades" and when asked about the restaurant's breakfast with the hope that was at least included, we were made aware the restaurant is closed (with zero notification online) and she pointed to a sign with a choice of three unappetizing options, which included a bowl of cereal (menu photo attached). When I showed the front desk member my reservation details in my app asking why the hotel will not honor what is stated in the reservation, I was abruptly cut off with the statement "we are not technically a Hilton, we are privately owned and do not honor the loyalty program." Reluctantly accepting my key and perplexed to why they have Diamond parking signage, I passed multiple signs proclaiming Hilton's Satisfaction Promise (photo attached) which only increased my frustration towards less than hospitable staff. I entered my room which clearly had not be renovated in decades. The disintegrated curtains (photoed), view of a roof, stained bedding, peeling wall paper, highly damaged walls and no safe made the situation even more undesirable. I immediately tried to call the front desk to be connected to the onsite manager using the room phone, but that too was broken. Having to call back using my mobile, I requested to speak to the manager after multiple persuasive requests and was continually interrupted with the phrase, "we are privately owned and not technically a Hilton". Finally she agreed she would pass along my concerns to her manager. Approximately 15 minutes later, the front desk staff member called my mobile and said her manager does not need to speak to me and that he will not honor any of the Hilton's loyalty perks, regardless of what the reservation notates. Furthermore she also refused my request to cancel and credit my reservation due to my overwhelming dissatisfaction. At that point, I was forced to stay at this dump for two days otherwise I would lose the cost of the entire stay. The moral of the story, if you have any type of expectations for a decent, refreshed room with friendly and accommodating staff, stay anywhere else but the Hilton Garden Inn New Braunfels.

We stay here frequently on our getaway to Gruene. Perfect location. Staff is friendly. As we’ve been staying here since they opened I feel the bathrooms are in need of refreshing. We were happy with our treatment as Gold Members.
No pool, no restaurant horrible bed.

I picked the Hilton because it is supposed to be a quality hotel. It is a pretty hotel. The bed was very worn out. Had a definite sag going on. The other reasons I picked the Hilton was because it had a restaurant on the premises. We get there and it is closed. The 3rd reason I picked the Hilton was for the pool. Looked great in the pictures. It was also closed. Do better Hilton. Update the lack of the restaurant, get decent beds and open the pool. It’s august for goodness sake!

Our first room was terrible. There was unclean air and unclean beds. There was also an alright interaction with customers but it seemed really rude. The room service was top class though and so was the size of the room. But I wouldn't recommend it to people because of how rude and confrontational it was. I just wish there wasn't a Motel 6 type of condition of the couches and air quality.
