My husband and I chose to stay at The Haunted Hotel because we're both horror movie/true crime nerds and have been to NOLA so many times that we thought this would be a fun lark. And it was! The overall decor is kind of creepy, but welcoming, and the patio room we had on the second floor was spacious and came equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, and a tv. The doors to the patio were a little problematic for us, but we're pretty laid back so it was NBD really. The bathrooms are pretty basic, but clean, and provide soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The beds were comfortable and provide lots of pillows. It wasn't too bad of a walk to the main stuff @ Bourbon. We got lost a few times, but that's on us. It's really only about 5 blocks to Bourbon and Jackson Square and all the fun stuff you visit this awesome city for. We had a space out front for our car (we drove in) and never had it ticketed once, or pay for the space. Special shout-out to Bobby! He was phenomenal. He was welcoming and kind, and we were able to text him throughout our stay with any questions. For instance, we had a bad storm during our stay and when we got back to our room, had no internet or tv. I texted Bobby to inquire if it was the storm, and he texted right back to tell me that yes, it was the storm, and he has already contacted the companies and the tv and wi-fi were back within half an hour. The most amazing thing was what a dummy I was. I accidentally left my kind of expensive Sonicare toothbrush behind in the bathroom after we had left, and it didn't hit me until I was on the road home. Hoping against hope, I texted Bobby, asking if he found it and if I could send him money via cashapp to mail it to me. And he, without hesitation, agreed. He went and found it, right where I had left it, and within no time at all, texted me the tracking number. Big hotels with giant staff don't do that kind of stuff, that toothbrush would have been thrown out by housekeeping at any other hotel. I was blown away by how happy he was to help us, and how quickly he came though. This is a fun little hotel if you're looking for something different, but it's not luxurious or fancy. It's a horror hotel. A horror hotel with a HEART OF GOLD.

I really wanted to have a memorable experience in a positive way. But It was memorable in the most neutral way possible. For each good, there was a balanced bad. Our room had a great balcony and there is plenty of space to sit in the courtyard, but if you want to hang out in your room, you’re going to be sitting on the bed. The Good: Location - Far enough from the action to be quiet and quaint but close enough to let you walk pretty much anywhere you need. Creepiness - This is the reason to book this place. There are fake bloody footprints on the stairs. There is a "bloody" fountain in the courtyard. This place is down a dark alley. The Bad: Amenities - There really weren't any. Short of a small fridge, a microwave and a hair dryer, you had beds, running water and lights. Wifi didn't work for us (I think we were too far from the hot spot). Atmosphere - Not to be confused with the "creepiness," the carpet was dirty, one of the 2 beds were unusable due to being collapsed on one side, a light switch was malfunctioning and the glass window panes had giant gaps in them. So, if you're into the possibility of seeing or hearing something supernatural (we did not) and willing to put up with a very basic and unimpressive facility, this could be the place for you. If you're wanting a nice cozy place to enjoy while not out on the town, this would be a place to skip.

Will definitely be staying here again. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable also redone and enjoyable to look at. The property manager Widner made me and my family feel right at home. The history of the hotel as well was very interesting. Got a little spooked but not enough to check out. The balcony facing the street was so relaxing and the courtyard was by far my favorite part of the hotel so relaxing so peaceful.

Impressive and not impressive

I liked the staff, location was awesome, thought the ambience of the courtyard was great and thought the room would do. It was nicely renovated and well stocked with some extras I didn't expect (soda, qtips, snacks, etc) but a few things weren't great and I REALLY wanted to like this place. One thing was they had 2 plugin scent thingies that were overwhelming. I unplugged them and hid them in drawers and tried to air out the room to get rid of my headache. Then, went to bed and a/c unit would, out of nowhere and unpredictably, make a loud buzz sound. It was driving us nuts so my husband turned it off and we figured we'd deal with a warm room. Only problem is it continued to let out a buzz noise every 1 to 20 minutes at irregular intervals just enough to keep us frustrated and awake. Then there's the shower which was either scalding or freezing cold with no in between. Maybe it was the ghost but I cant stay here again.
