Ricardo the bell hp was amazing from day one. Stored our bags like a champ, was always kind, went out of the way to get us a shuttle. Friendly, attentive, and went over the top to assist. The hotel was a great location in Midtown!

This hotel was amazing! Dixon (Security) was the first person I came in contact with, and his level of customer service and professionalism was above and beyond. He was very genuine, and easy to speak to. Jonathan the front desk supervisor was phenomenal. He was very well spoken, and hooked up my lady with a bottle of wine as a complimentary service because it was her birthday. He sent security to the room immediately with a bottle opener, and the level of service was so fast and on point. Everyone including the bellman, made our stay wonderful. Erica the front desk agent was very kind, and friendly. The hotel is close to everything including time sq. I wil definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone. The roof bar was amazing as well.

Nice business travel experience, not perfect

It’s been 17 months since I traveled for business. Having visited NYC fairly often in the preceding 5 years, it was fittingly my first business travel destination. I wanted to try a new Marriott property and the AC hit the mark in terms of location and amenities.
The AC is between 7th and 8th on 40th St. This location is convenient and walkable to Times Square, theater, and most of the office locations in the Midtown area. There are multiple restaurants at different levels of class nearby, and you can reach the hotel in about 30 minutes from LGA with normal / low traffic.
This brand seems like Marriott’s version of Starwood’s Westin: it’s more of a business traveler hotel in terms of minimalist luxury, function, amenities, and overall feel. I advise choosing a high floor to avoid the typical NYC street noise, and it didn’t matter to me that I faced an industrial building. The nightstands are ample for electronics, and feature AC as well as USB. The telescoping reading light and bedside lamps are a nice touch. King beds are offered, but with the standard mush pillows that collapse to the height of a credit card when you put weight on them. The bed is still comfortable but not like Westin’s bed. TVs in these rooms are huge, but this is fairly normal in modern times. The desk is a bit small, and I’d like to see AC use a smaller space for coffee and sundries (perhaps move them to the small microwave and refrigerator area) to leave more room for a workspace. However, offering a microwave and refrigerator (with a glass door) at all is welcomed. There is no closet, but plenty of room for business casual wear for 4-5 days. The bathroom has a rainhead shower that also offers a handheld (in typical Westin fashion), and the counter space is excellent. I never felt cramped in this bathroom as the designers thoughtfully used a pocket door. Great job, AC!
A rooftop lounge sits on the 21st floor of this building, and I heard it had a great view and bar, but never went up there. The restaurant selection seems a bit poor, as the only breakfast option currently offers “takeout”-type meals and no seated service. While the lobby is quite large and nicely adorned, it seemed like an area where you weren’t ever really going to hang out. The fitness center, which is the priority for me with business travel, is actually quite good, and especially good in comparison to some of the other nearby Marriott properties. Moxy Times Square has good equipment but hardly any space, and Moxy Chelsea has plenty of space but a lack of equipment. AC seems to have prioritized both. There are kettlebells up to 50 lbs (HUGE bonus), 6 cardio machines, and plenty of floor space to use dumbbells, mats, and any other equipment. There’s also a cable machine with several attachments, and a filtered water dispenser on the wall.
The front desk at the AC did a nice job being warm and welcoming, especially in the wake of COVID19. It was so long since I had checked into a hotel for a work trip that I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially in one of the most restrictive cities still remaining in the US. The staff was helpful, but the text messaging that the hotel initiated seemed to be largely ignored. They contacted me first about 30 minutes after check-in, to which I replied with a request for more bottled water. It never came. I repeated the request the next morning, and although they responded, nothing happened yet again. It wasn’t until I asked the front desk in person, and they immediately accommodated my request. Front desk staff = good, digital staff = not so good.
I’ll definitely stay here again, especially to return to the same office, only 10 blocks away. It’s not perfect, but the priorities for me are met. It’s not quite like a Westin although it tries to be similar – better in some ways, not better in others.

My 12 night stay at the AC Marriott Hotel Times Square was awesome. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff goes above and beyond to be friendly and help with anything you could possibly need. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming every single morning when we started our day, even going above and beyond to give us food suggestions during a busy check in. The manager (im sorry I never caught her name) was extremely friendly and I swear she was working every single time I went to the lobby the entire 12 days I was there. Johnathan at the front desk was beyond friendly and went out of his way to say hello and make sure we were okay and didn't need anything else. He even offered to book me a car to the airport on my last day, and called with a confirmation number within 5 minutes. The room was absolutely spotless and when we asked for it to be serviced it was done within the hour. I am a Hilton Dimond member and I can honestly say after this experience, I definitely need to switch to Marriott. Thank you AC Marriott Times Square Staff for making my first trip to New York a great one!
