maybe a 4.5 -- worthwhile place to stay

One might think that this is not the best location, right at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, but actually it is a gem, with two useful subway stops about 2 blocks away (1, E lines). So, for anyone arriving at Penn Station, this is a really good location. Also, going uptown or downtown on Hudson, there are many restaurants. Rooms are clean and well-organized with everything one would need. Lighting is good, room temperature good, bed good. We used all the outlets, but there is a clock with extra USB ports. Wifi works. There is in-room safe, cube refrigerator, complimentary water. No in-room coffee maker. Room faced inward to a courtyard, so there was some music noise one night, but not severe. Not a lot of traffic noise. Staff friendly and helpful. There is a bodega of sorts with breakfast items, coffee, snacks. No breakfast service, but a restaurant for dinner. For breakfast alternatives, on corner of Hudson and Canal, there is a branch of Maman (yum!). This place does its job very well. No pretense. Rooms are small, not fancy, but nice. Of note, from the Arlo, easy walk to most of lower Manhattan -- the Whitney, High Line, WTC, Oculus, Little Italy, Lower East Side.

A lot to like, except for the bathrooms!

There is a lot to like in this hotel...great location (walk to the Hudson River Greenway, Chelsea Market, The Village, The High Line), lots of good bars and restaurants nearby, nice rooftop bar (although in the winter it is more of a lounge, you can't see outside from the indoor seating which was surprising), good restaurant, cute rooms and a lovely lobby area. Also, loved receiving the Arlo bag as a check-in gift. The only real negative was with the bathroom in the room. It's not really a bath "room", it is a toilet and shower next to the beds with a partially frosted glass partition in front. There is no door and the slider in front of the toilet did not go all the way to the wall or the ceiling, so you couldn't help but see and hear all the toilet activity from the beds. I mean, the toilet was right in front of the bed. I would love the room if I was staying by myself, but sharing it with another person was difficult, there was no privacy at all for the toilet or shower. I asked at the front desk if there were other bathroom options but was told that all the rooms were designed the same way. As much as I would love to stay here again, I probably wouldn't because of this feature. If a traveler is comfortable with this design though, this hotel would be a good choice. Also, be aware that there is an "urban fee" tacked on to the nightly rate, so if you search for hotels by price, this one will come up with a more affordable option, but it really isn't, the urban fee (as well as the $82/day valet parking!) brings the price up to the same or more than other hotels that don't use the urban fee.

The best hotel to stay in while visiting New York. LOVED IT!!!!

The best part about this hotel is the incredible customer service from every single employee. The rooms, although small, are very stylish, quiet and the beds are really comfortable Excellent location, walking distance to many restaurants, art galleries and major shopping.. LOVED IT!!!!

Hands down this is one of the BEST hotels I’ve stayed in on so many levels! So yeah, the hotel is stylish, modern, clean, has great facilities and is in a super location. But, the Arlo team is what makes this a great place to base yourself while exploring NYC. Your All Star line up for New Years at the Arlo was: Danny 💫 Moises 💫 Amaris 💫 Randee 💫 Joe 💫 Marcus 💫 Sylvio 💫 Shanely 💫 They were all super friendly , always smiling and would acknowledge you every time they saw you, even if it was 💯 times a day. Always asking how we were and if we needed anything. We had a slight medical issue and what could of been a stressful situation, was made easy and simple which made our bucket list holiday have a happy ending! Nothing was too much for anyone there, I had many good conversions about many things from The topics of New York, Football ( Soccer to you guys!) , the Weather, recommendations & what time Of year to come back next ! Your house keeping team were perfect, super quick with any request , always showing a smile and saying good morning every day when I went to get a coffee😀 Not to forget your security team, dealt with An issue quickly and made us feel welcome When ever we crossed paths. This really was a phenomenal experience, so hats off to you guys on this email, I hope your boss gives you some free drinks and a meal for the two weeks of service you gave us. From working in hospitality when I was younger I understand not everyone has the best day and has things going on, but your professionalism made you come across like you were the happiest people in the world everyday and that sure rubs off on your customers. Bricks and mortar isn’t what defines a business, it’s the people and culture, and in this case, you’ve got it so right 👌🏽 We would 100% recommend anyone to come here and we will be back again in the future, for sure! 🤩 P.S for anyone reading this, Bubbys down the road from this place serve up the best pancakes on the planet 🌎 😋 Have a great 2022 - Adam & Emily Room 831

Cozy Hotel that makes you feel right at home!

My boyfriend and I loved this hotel. The rooms were so cute and cozy. We stayed in a king city view and thought the space was very efficiently used and it was perfect for the two of us. I will say...if you are not completely comfortable with your partner, the bathroom situation could prove to be a bit uncomfortable- but it was just perfect for us. The bodega was cute with good coffee and service and Linden's was so good. Joe, Al and Randie are all wonderful additions to the hotel and my boyfriend and I enjoyed saying hello to them every time we passed the desk or had any questions at all! Can't wait to come back and stay again! Thank you Arlo!
