YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY AT THE PARK LANE HOTEL. STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!
I am an experienced traveler. And one thing I have learned is that there are things you can blame a hotel for and things you can't. If a storm knocks-out power to the hotel, it's hard to blame the hotel. But when the front desk at a major NYC hotel checks guests in, knowing full-well that the the hotel WILL HAVE NO RUNNING WATER AS OF SUNRISE and chooses NOT to disclose that information until after their guests check-in, THAT is something you CAN blame the hotel for. And THAT is precisely what happened to me on February 28th, 2021. The Park Lane Hotel, knowing full-well that they would have no running water as of sunrise on March 1, 2021, decided NOT to inform incoming guests of this fact until they discovered it for themselves. This kind of management tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the hotel and how you can expect to be treated as a guest. The Park Lane is a luxury hotel, part of the Witkoff Group Mubadala Investment Company. This ain't no Motel 8 - that would be a serious "dis" to Motel 8. If any hotel should know better about how NOT to treat their guests, it would be a hotel of this purported stature. That "stature" is an illusion; based entirely on where the hotel is located: Central Park South in NYC, home to several of the most celebrated hotels in the world (The Plaza; etc.). I only discovered the lack of running water when I reached my room at 8:30PM on a rainy, freezing Sunday night with nowhere else to go. I went downstairs to the front desk, only to be joined by other irate guests, asking how we could have been checked-in without so much as a single word about the fact that we would not be able to flush a toilet; take a shower, or use the sink after we awakened in the morning, The manger on duty stated that she was sorry that the front desk attendant had not so-informed guests (trust me - this was not the front desk attendant's decision) and asked me what I wanted to do. I asked if they could simply find me another room in the area as it was freezing out and raining and I had no place to go. She denied my request, stating that she had no such capacity (are you kidding me? This is done ALL THE TIME at hotels). If the CEO of the Witkoff Group Mubadala Investment Company found herself/himself facing the same conditions, do you think they might be able to find her/him a room at another NYC hotel? Instead, I had no choice but to pack-up at 9PM and walk out into NYC, in the rain, to find somewhere else to stay. I know this hotel. I have stayed at the Park Lane before. In its former life, the Park Lane was one of the greats, today, it's a sad example of a hotel handed-down from one corp. to another, and losing just about every quality of excellence that was ever a part of its reputation. Today - the Park Lane SUCKS. It's a total rip-off and a hotel you should avoid at all costs. Do yourself and your family a favor - pick another hotel. Staying at the Park Lane means risking your NYC vacation or business plans and experiencing the worst possible hotel experience imaginable. In my case, I made my way to 54th Street and checked-in to the Warwick which was not experiencing any water loss (despite being told by the front desk manager at the Park Lane that many of the other hotels in the area were experiencing the very same loss of water). Pure BS.
Don’t bother...save your money !!!!!
Seriously guys don’t bother. These rooms and hotel doesn’t look at all like the website. NOT AT ALL!!!! In fact the only thing that is considered a pro is the location. But that’s about it. First off these resort fees are ridiculous. And I get that this industry is struggling it they added resort fees way before COVID started. Like $35 a night??? Ridiculous especially when 9 times out of 10 the guests don’t even utilize the services offered. But on to my stay..when I first checked in I got the nastiest room. It was not clean. The toilet was disgusting. There were stains all on the carpet and the bed was sunken in. I asked to be reassigned which they did. I got a room that was a tad better. There were crumbs on the dresser and toothpaste stains by the sink. Just to not deal with switching again I cleaned up. Thank god for wet wipes!! Also the heater is unbelievably noisy so if you choose to reserve anyway good luck having a good night’s sleep. Plus it was cold in the room cuz there’s still a draft that gets in thru the window. I get they’re going thru renovations but come on. Either close down the hotel till you’re finished or really clean the existing rooms. I mean everything is completely outdated. I blame myself a bit because I did see these same complaints by other reviewers but I like to judge for myself. Plus I’d always wanted to stay in the Central Park area. Lesson learned that I’ll pay attention when various reviewers complain about the same thing. Seriously guys wait till they finish renovations or choose another hotel.
Valentines Weekend
Very disappointed, I paid $200 night. for an old room, not a stunning view. I was expecting moreee for a hotel that is in front of the central park. Not what I was looking for my valentines weekend...
Worth the extra!!
Our stay was more than we expected. We even had a view of central park without paying the extra for it. We truly enjoyed the happy hour food at the end of the day. This saved us from having to go out to eat for one of the meals each day. We are soooooo glad we spent the extra money for the service on top of the location!!!
HORRIBLE
Do not stay here. I was booked in here on Monday February 1st the booking was made by my work place and paid for by the company. Upon arrival I gave my credit card for incidentals and was assured it would not be charged. After checking into the room i noticed a red flashing light under the dresser and upon checking it could not make out what it was, but discovered broken pretzels and other debris on the floor. Obviously the room was not cleaned YUCK! After speaking with the concierge they changed the room. The next room was a bit cleaner but was next door to a very noisy neighbor. And the heater was so loud it woke me up several times during the night. How and ever after checking out the next morning and checking the bank account there was a pending charge for $227... very unusual as the booking for the room was $152....numerous calls to accounting and only ever being able to leave a message (which states they will get back to you within 24 hours) there has still been no response. Also called and left a voice mail for the manager with no response either. Sent an email also to accounting with no response. The charge is now being disputed with the bank...very bad business management , no response whatsoever from them. Do they really think people will pay twice for the one room, totally disappointed and will never stay here again. Also will be contacting the Department of consumer affairs and the better business bureau
