Bad staff and management and hotel has a lot of flaws

I try to be objective with reviews and am stunned this hotel has good reviews. Here's what I noticed. 1. The attitude of the staff is lazy and rude. Whenever I had questions about the restaurants or issues ( my tv ), I would get incorrect information on straightforward questions and sensed a poor attitude—a negative experience. Front Desk and over-the-phone people are rude. Nearly every encounter unhelpful and rude employees. 2. The elevators suck. They have a new digital system that makes you choose a touch screen for the floor you're going to. On some floors that are out of service, it is a clunky technology, and I overheard several other guests complain. BAD System! My door would also automatically deadbolt before I could close it too! So many problems that the staff and management ignore! 3. NY is the worst state I have ever been to with Covid-19 laws and rules, which makes the stay for most travelers miserable, and this hotel is again very lazy with communication. Example: The gym - There's a huge sign stating your room key is required for entry; after swiping for 10 minutes and not getting in, I found out that you need a SPECIAL key now to get it because you have to " show your papers" for Vax proof. How difficult would it be to post a sign on the gym's door communicating that flow or informing your guests at check-in? 4. The staff over the phone does not know the hours of their own restaurants opening or closing; you must have out the hard way after they tell you wrong information. This hotel is an example of a poor culture fostered by leadership failures at the top; I am sure this is only the tip of the iceberg. I don't see many positives outside of being in a decent city area. The Coivd-19 laws and regulations will make your trip miserable in the city/state. I will never return to this property again, even if I were provided a free stay. I will not miss NY either; streets are littered with trash and seem unsafe.

Stayed at the Sheraton Time Square for 4 nights as Omicron was spreading across the nation; but the hotel did a great job keeping everyone safe and comfortable. I will say that they have the BEST elevator system that I have ever seen! You walk up to the elevators, enter the floor you are going to and it assigns an elevator to you. Never had to wait long for an elevator and never had to share an elevator with others! This elevator system was designed long ago with COVID in mind! Absolutely the best system!!! I would stay at the Sheraton again, just for the elevator system, LOL. The room was nicely decorated and felt homey; though it could use some updates as furniture is showing age and wear. Room was small as in most rooms in New York; we knew and expected that. The room was clean, smelled fresh and rug was free of dirt/stains. We still did our own disinfection of the room with our wipes; can never be too careful. My family can’t be away from a gym for too long and without knowing it, we booked a hotel that has one of the best hotel gym that I have ever seen!!! The gym has tons of cardio machines, weight machines, squat rack, dumbbells going all the way to 100 pounds and a Peloton studio!!! WOW!!!! The gym has an attendant who makes sure you know how to use the equipment and keeps everything in its place. Everything was clean, equipment in good condition with towels and wipes for your use. Again WOW! The Sheraton is a few blocks from the heart of Time Square which was fine for us, we didn’t have to deal with the hustle and bustle of the crowds all the time. Still tons of restaurants around the hotel when you want to go out and eat or just grab a slice of Original Ray’s pizza that is across the street. Because of COVID, employees kept their distance from you and so it’s tough to rate their Customer Service; but with the few opportunities we interacted with employees. They were happy to help and provide any information we needed. Would I recommend the Sheraton and would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY! Without hesitation.

Me and my partner stayed here in December 2018 for our first time in New York (better late than never to review this hotel) this hotel was perfect for us. Plenty of lifts so you are not waiting long to go up to your room, the lobby was decorated and very Christmassy and our room was great! From the moment we got out of our taxi until we left we were very well looked after. I just wish we spent more time in the hotel as the bar area looked great but we were too busy exploring. The location is amazing as well right in the heart of times square! I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family and would happily stay here again! We have been to New York three times now and this was the best hotel we have stayed in out of them all.
No worth it even for NYE.

The only positive side of this hotel is the location. I have stayed in this hotel way too many times due to my work (my company has an agreement with them). The staff at the front desk and on the phone are unbelievable rude and indifferent to customers needs. They treat you as if they were making you a favor. On top of that, they get upset if you don´t tip them. The staff at the breakfast service aren´t very smiley but are professional and helpful. Rooms are ok, not great. I have also stayed there for New Year´s eve. The hotel was packed and it was a great chaos. It took ages to get on the elevators, up to the point that I though I´ll missed the countdown. When I first got the my room, after check in on the 31/12, I found out that there was no duvet on the bed. It seemed as they haven´t prepared the bed. After calling several times, arguing with the rude staff and waiting almost 1hour, someone came with a single bed duvet claiming that they have run out of the double ones. No apologies, of course. So, apparently Sheraton New York can not afford to get enough duvets for a full house date. The location doesn´t give you any advantage as the main entrance is blocked due to the Police restrictions for the NYE event. So you still need to queue as everybody else, to access Times Square. To sum up, there are so many options for accommodation in the same area that I would not choose to stay here.

We have been to NYC many times and always stayed with Hilton, this time we thought we'd try Sheraton. Room was average, but at least had windows you could open partially. Gym, whilst well equipped, could do with a good clean. We stayed 7 nights, and despite asking our room was serviced 3 times only, the rest of the time we had to request towels and coffee supplies. When we contacted reception not once did they apologise - we were made to feel as if we should be grateful to stay there. Won't bother again.
