More about the hotel
Very disappointed and inconvenienced
We booked this hotel via Hotwire (2 rooms, 3 nights). We confirmed several times with the hotel. They emailed then called us THE DAY OF CHECK IN to cancel our reservation. They offered a SUB PAR hotel replacement. We called Hotwire to complain. Hotwire rebooked us at a near by hotel (INK Hotel) at the same rate. Fortunately we were able to work this out because we were traveling by car, and could stop to use a laptop to research/compare what Hotwire was offering. I can't imagine the scenario for someone coming in without knowing ahead of time that TRYP cancelled their reservation THE DAY OF CHECK IN.
Do Not Book This Hotel!
As everyone else had mentioned, and I wish I had read the review closer, this hotel will wait until the day of your reservation to change your accommodation to another hotel. This means you can't cancel and receive a refund. They contacted me the same day of my reservation to say the street was closed and my reservation was moved to a sister property. It's a scam. The sister hotel is not a comparable accommodation, but the absolute worst. I had to cancel and book another hotel at the last minute, at my cost, with no refund. Took a walk to see if the street was closed, and it wasn't. Other hotels on the same street were open like it was business as usual. Be warned, this place is a scam. Do not book it!
Hotel Cancelled Reservation - Moved my reservation to another hotel
This hotel has a horrible reputation for cancelling reservations and sending them to their "sister hotel" - The Paul Hotel. I received a text message informing me that my room reservation had been moved to another "4-star hotel." The Paul is barely a two-star if that. No amenities were available. Only received house keeping once during a three night stay. Asked for extra towels never received them. Lobby and hotel floor reeked of cannabis smoke. The hotel staff had no clue of their relationship with TRYP. When I called the TRYP to complain I received no answer. After doing more research online I discover that the TRYP has a reputation for moving people to The Paul. When I called Wyndham to complain I got the runaround. BEWARE.
Will not refund deposit...even though event coming to NYC was cancelled.
Despite the fact that I had initially made a mistake online and chose a res. with full money required up front (and alerted them of my mistake within minutes & my wish to cancel and rebook at a non-deposit-refundable rate) they refused & still charged me... and now that the event I was coming to NYC was cancelled due to COVID 19, they're still refusing to refund my deposit!
Do not book this hotel!
Had a booking for this hotel in April 2020. Had to cancel due to COVID-19. Could not contact the hotel - no email address, and phone simply ringing out! Contacted Wyndham Group and they essentially disowned the hotel - claimed it was a franchise and so they could not help in any way. Apologised for the issues, and said they would further investigate. Now August - still no respionse from hotel or Wyndham Group. Appaling service from this hotel and Wyndham Group
