The Worst Hostel I have Ever Stayed!!Do not stay here!
Reviewed 24 october, 2021
This has to be the worst hostel I have ever stayed at in 13 years of travelling. I have travelled in many cities within many countries of the world...and this place is up there with the worst of them. The location is bad, it is situated well outside of the main city centre in the roughest, dodgiest part of town, where a lot of criminal activity takes place. The staff are unfriendly, the rooms aren't cleaned regularly. When I arrived the floor was covered in cigarette ends and the linen was dirty, had not been changed in days. Theft also happens here, I had my towel stolen and my room mate had a small amount of money stolen. The general vibe at this place was more of a doss house to suit homeless people rather than travellers of any description. I reserved 3 nights at this hostel but only stayed for 2 because I didnt feel safe so left early. All in all an unpleasant and eye opening experience. Avoid this hostel at all costs!!!!

We had this room booked for 2 days our check in was 11am we arrived in Newcastle at 10am and jumped a taxi to the property. Whilst on route we recieved a text message saying our booking had been cancelled as someone had been sick in the room. This leaving us stranded with no accommodation. Funnily enough the taxi driver said to us this happens all the time with that property and wasn't a new thing. He said they no doubt had a walk in looking for a room who would obviously pay more than what we had been charged. Found this absolutely shocking and disgusting thing to do. Luckily we found another place courtesy of the taxi driver who was very helpful and found us somewhere else available. Anyway AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! MAY LOOK CHEAP AND CHEERFUL BUT ITS A CON AND I WOULDN'T WANT QNYONE ELSE TO BE IN THE SITUATION WE WERE LEFT IN.
Cheap and run down, but you get what you pay for.

The name doesn’t lie. Definitely Budget. For £26 I can’t complain, but be prepared for just how basic everything actually is. Room was clean, but extremely run down, and in need of a major refurb (stains on carpets, paint peeling on walls etc.). Host was welcoming and really helpful, and check-in was quick and efficient. I, however, can not stress enough just how basic the rooms are. Don’t bother staying for a romantic night away, this place is perfect if you’re just after a base and a bed for a night. Would’ve gave it 5* but the bed base was broke on the double and the lock on the door was a bit dodgy (room 6).
An amazing night

We arrived early Saturday afternoon to a very welcoming host who was more than accommodating when arranging taxis into the city centre. The location of the hostel is also beneficial being located next to a large police station so felt very safe when waiting for the taxi. As regards the quality of the rooms, what more can I say. TREMENDOUS! Mattress quality was very soft and comfortable, the bed linen was of the finest Egyptian Cotten with goose feather pillows. Each room was furnished to the highest quality. I would definitely re-visit this establishment and will be bringing my wife to show her the quality later this year. Thank you Budget Hostel for the memories

Look, pay the extra ten quid and stay somewhere nice. This area is super dodgy, not suitable for school groups university students, really anyone. The hostel is dirty - looks and feels it. We booked this for a student group that was coming to visit - I have literally never regretted booking a hostel more. We actually reduced the number of rooms we needed the week before, and we didnt get our money back, despite constant chasing. The caretaker, was intimidating and rude - as a woman I felt I needd my male colleagues to come and defend me. AVOID. AT. ALL. COSTS. thanks. By the way, we stayed August 2018
