Worst night manager-EVER!
My family & I have stayed at this hotel for the past 6 years. Up until this year, it has always been a pleasant experience. After trouble, where the police were called, the night manager told us we would get a refund since the fight kept us up all night. We were charged the full amount & when we called to complain, the night manager could not have been more rude. She told me that “adjustments” could be made, but there were no refunds. When I asked her who I needed to speak to about the adjustment, she told me, “That’s for you to find out!” She acted like a spoiled child who was going to be in trouble for being naughty. As a person who’s had to deal with the public, I realize that people can sometimes be difficult, but this time I was the customer & it was the manager who was rude and disrespectful! We will never return to this hotel again! This last few years we’ve noticed that some of the clientele have been a little”sketchy”, but nothing prepared us for the full-on brawl that had people banging against our door all night. Do yourselves a favor and don’t bother to book a room at this hotel-unless maybe they fire the night manager!
UP and Down on the review
The reviews vary, and so does my opinion on our stay. The rate was great, there were clear renovations in the past year or two, and Chuck was a fantastic staff member. The hotel had very shoddy renovations, inconsistent bed quality, more than obvious maintenance issues and zero attempts at cleaning under the bed. This was confirmed when my dog went under the bed and located a full slew of junk, food and garbage that was gross. I mentioned it to the front desk and her response was 'yeah they do a nice job'. I was not sure if that was sarcasm or if she didnt hear me. B.W properties are typically better than most budget/midscale so I wont let this deter my views. It just needs a little touching up to correct the faults.
Overnight stay to the Beach
My family and I decided to leave a day early on our Summer vacation and we decided we wanted to make a stop close by Bass Pro Shop before heading to the beach. The hotel is approximately 10 miles from the BPS. It's also less than an hour from Virginia Beach. Its a nice hotel. It is showing it age. The deal clock was so friendly and helpful. We would stay again. Lots of restaurants near.
Appearances are deceiving
Was very disappointed in this hotel. The exterior, and lobby's appearance is nice, but there's no substance. Guest rooms are outdated, have little to no noise reducing qualities, windows are drafty and the sills are very unkempt. Appliances in the guest rooms, i.e hvac and refrigerators are noisy, and internet is abominably slow or non existent.
Average
The staff was nice and the rooms were ok. The location was very good. The pool was nice (it's heated and was almost too warm on a 98 degree day). The covid breakfast options were individually wrapped bagels and muffins. That was all fine and well until a woman without a mask coughed all over them. Even though there are signs saying you need to wear a mask, none of the employees actually enforced it. I would stay here again only if I want to use an outdoor pool.
