"No heating in room freezing and no staff at hotel"
Booked 2 room, no heating at all in one of them, no staff at the hotel to report any problems to, we did not use the room as it was just too cold to sleep in, maybe a little more expensive to use other hotels, "pay the extra or you will be sorry" lol.
Excellent Hotel
I've stayed at the Lodge several times and it has been excellent on every occasion. All the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The location is brilliantly situated in the heart of the town. It has private parking which is rare in the area. I would book early to avoid disappointment.
Mix Up With Rooms and Power Cut
Positives:Location was excellent and once made up room was comfortable for one night. Had enough room for one person. There was a plug by the bed. Negatives:The staff couldn't find my booking at first then I was given my room key then I went up there and my room wasn't made up and there was still litter from the previous guest. So I had to wait until the housekeeping cleaned it. The shower door and bathroom light was broken. Also there was a power cut at 1:30am which meant the alarm went off and that the emergency light came on and was really bright so I was awake until it was sorted. Only 2 out of 4 plugs worked.
Better than nothing
Last minute booking, everywhere else either full or very expensive. Shabby looking place, with squeaky bed & run down look. Noisy from creaking floorboards, slamming doors & people talking on the street outside our window. That said, it was a bed for the night.
WORST PLACE WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN!!!!
The first room we were directed to through a strong smelling aroma in the corridor and room was VERY DIRTY!!, one of the single beds was broken to a point of being unsafe and unusable. The other 2 beds had very thin mattresses and were low to the ground. It looked like someone had just vacated the room and the only thing that had been changed was the bedding and towels. The carpet was full of stains which looked like they had been there a while. After speaking to a member of staff on reception he showed us to another room on the 1st floor. The corridor leading to this room also had a very strong aroma. This was a bit cleaner than the first room we were shown. The curtains were falling down so you couldn't close them properly. The floor looked like it hadn't been hovered as there were items under the beds from previous occupants. The wardrobe door didn't close properly. The beds were uncomfortable as you could feel the springs through the mattress. During the 2nd night the electricity went off and we lost all power to the room. So we were left with the safety light on most of the night. When the electricity went off there was an alarm that was going off for at least 30 minutes in the middle of the night. The electric sockets were powered through one socket in the room through extension cables. The shower doors wouldn't close properly. It was very expensive for the quality of accommodation. Breakfast was an extra expense which was continental only and due to the lack of cleanliness we chose not to have any in the B&B.
