Stayed here for 2 nights from 30/12 to 1/1 Good points: 1) Very good location! Only beside train station 2) Sufficient amenities, including soap, shampoo, conditioner 3) Clean room Bad points: 1) WiFi connection - had to reconnect multiple times during my stay

The Art Hotel at Niigata station is very conveniently located near the station with the 2nd floor taking you directly to it. The bus station is easily accessible from one side. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. A 24 hr Convenience store (konbini) is also a few steps away. The staff is very helpful and the hotel itself is comfy with good facilities including a coin laundry.

The hotel is linked to the station although a little tricky to find the first time - use the East exit on the South side of the station. Reception staff were friendly and able to speak helpful English (to let me know I had been upgraded to a bigger room). There were some Art Deco touches in the lobby and lift areas. The room was very nice and had great views.

Stayed here for five nights. My company booked my room. It was a twin room so a bit more spacious than the single room. The beds were low. I am 5'3" and the bed height came to around my knees. I have a bad back so I'd rather have a bed that's higher. Oh well, everything can't be catered to and for me! Love the bathroom. I took a bath a couple of times. You can adjust the water temperature whether showering or bathing. There is a pants presser (didn't use it) and humidifier (ditto). I used the electric kettle provided. Tea bags are available on a cabinet across from the front desk. Teas, coffees, Q-tips, shower caps, hard candy and I forgot what else are on the shelves. I went down to the Iroha restaurant every morning for the breakfast buffet. Pretty hearty offerings. The only thing warm were the scrambled eggs (not a daily thing... every other day, I think) and the soups. There's a laundromat on the 5th floor. 200 yen to run the washing machine and 100 yen (for 30 minutes) to run the dryer. Sharing space with the two washers and dryers are vending machines dispensing some Cup Ramen, chips, tea and beer and a microwave oven. You can get a packet of detergent for no charge from the front desk clerk. Vending machines dispensing soft and hard drinks are on every floor. The hotel location is very good. No need to get exposed to the elements while walking to it. If you drive, be forewarned there is no free parking. The hotel doesn't have its own parking lot. (I found this out as my colleague was renting a car and asking about parking.)

This was our layover sport on the way home from Sado. Loved the room. Nice bathroom. Loved the rate. See the picture showing the Niigata station. Because we are from Texas, we ate breakfast down the street at McDonald's.
