More about the hotel
This place is a joke
Was here for 2 nights over a warm 2 days. Rooms very basic, outdated and not very clean. Sand all over the floor of the room. No airconditioning or even a fan. Gets very hot. Walls thin so much noise, particularly from the terrace at the front of the hotel. The location is very good. The internet is a joke. This venue is set up as a training/meetings location. We had to run from mobile phone hotspots as the WiFi was so slow. Lunch was very bad. Breakfast, well I wish I could give a review but both days I wasn’t able to get it thanks to some crazy ‘COVID’ system with allocated times (except they don’t tell you this and then change the time for the next day, again without informing). Breakfast staff miserable and couldn’t care less. Dinner was pretty good, though very limited choice and asked for no sauce on my steak, which was forgotten and had to be re done but got a glass of wine in the house as an apology. Dinner staff were very good - friendly and professional. The hotel may tell you (they told me) that they have parking, but it was totally full the whole time, seems almost always is, they just send you off with something to display in your window, and your on your own to find something on the street. Took 45 mins and then a 15min walk back to the hotel. All in all, avoid if you can, plenty more choice.
Location is great but pricey for what they offer...
The location is great. The rooms are okay, ordered sea view but got one out the back. It is a disabled room, although we do not require one. Rooms are a bit old fashioned. Furthermore, the are not very service orientated, the hair dryer broke the first day and we could not get a new one from the hotel. Had to manage the stay without one. Breakfast was good but the portions rather small (2 woman, don’t eat a lot in general). Staff unfriendly as well. Enjoyed our stay, because Nordwijk is lovely but we do not recommend the hotel if you expect service and a good balance of price and service...
Very basic rooms, beds OK, breakfast very “vegetarian”
Stayed here as part of a package with a management training, for which “De Baak” primarily is known. The price in this case is sponsored so acceptable, however if you book on your own you pay a lot more which makes it loose sense. The rooms are very basic, and breakfast is a tad meagre. The food is fresh however, but don’t expect any meat. Cheese, fish or sweet spreads is about it for breakfast and lunch.
A nice and friendly hotel
I have stayed here twice. It’s a great location, clean rooms, great breakfast. The beds are comfortable. The rooms could do with a renovation with the furniture, the peek a boo glass in the shower might be a good taste for some but doesn’t work for a family. The service at the bar is very slow. The view is fantastic.
I had to cancel my credit card to make sure these people do not steal money from me
I have never stayed in a hotel with such a terrible customer service. The situation got that bad that I had to cancel my credit card to make sure these people do not steal money from me. I hardly do not recommend this hotel to anybody. So what has happened? A friend of mine planed her wedding in Noordwijk. For the guests they reserved 30 rooms at De Baak Seaside and asked their guests who needs a room. I took one double room for one night and wrote to the hotel that my boyfriend and me would like to stay a second night. To guarantee the reservation I had to give them my credit card number. 2 month before the wedding the bridal couple wrote an email to all guests who had a room that they had to pay all rooms in advance to make sure that the reservations are not canceled. So they asked us to pay them the amount for our room. For me that was 226,60€. When we arrived a day before the wedding (Friday) the receptionist told us that we had to pay the first night because the bridal couple had only paid for one night for each guest. Luckily the groom was already at the hotel, so when I wrote him about the issue he came by within 5 minutes. After a 30min discussion the receptionist finally accepted that we already had paid. The next morning I have noticed that the hotel has blocked 1.345,30€ from my credit card. When I asked at the reception what this was for even after 30min they couldn't give me an answer. I asked them to unblock the money as quick as possible. The receptionist told me they would do so on Monday when the admin is back. When we left on Sunday the receptionist asked me if we had a nice stay. When I asked him if he was kidding he looked at me as if he didn't understand although he witnessed all the discussions I had on the reception - two of them with him in person at the beginning of our stay. If he would have asked "How was your stay apart from the issues with the bookings which we will solve tomorrow?" I would have reacted totally different because I would have felt valued as a customer. Everyone can do mistakes but acting as if nothing has happened - that's just arrogant and unnecessary. But unfortunately the story hasn't ended here. I wrote the hotel a message on Monday because the money was still blocked. They didn't answer the whole day. So I wrote a public post on the wall of their Facebook page to get their attention. Within 5min they answered that they will get back to me as soon as possible. The next day in the morning they unblocked the money and wrote me an email at 10:00h to confirm that. An hour later I got an email from the same person telling me again that she just realized that one night hasn't been paid by me and another guest from the wedding (who I do not even know). And she asked me if she can just take the money for both rooms from my credit card again! When I saw her mail at the evening I wrote back that I do not want her to take any money from me especially not for a guest and a room I do not even know! What the hell?! The strange thing here is this: At the same time she wrote a mail to the groom sending him her deepest apologies for all the mistakes that happened and that everything is solved now. So when I told the groom about the mail he had to send a mail again to her to explain in detail that he has paid everything and that actually the hotel owed him 50€. The fact that the same woman wrote all these mails at the same time made me feel unsafe with them having my credit card number. So I called my bank and canceled it. I can not understand how a hotel that seems to be pretty established in Noordwijk has such hughe issues with their booking system. How can it be that all these mistakes happen not only once but that often? And every single time the recpetionists treated us as if they haven't talked to us before. What a tremendous bad service! I want to believe they didn't do it on purpose. If you stay here, make sure you book it via booking.com and they don't have your credit card number. Because the hotel itself is quite nice.
