Getting Better But Ask Questions

I wrote a previous 1 star review based on our visit in room 301. Short on some silverware, only one glass, but our real problem had to do with hot water. Our first morning we had none, even after trying repeatedly until 10 am and after letting the water run for 5 minutes. I was told a maintenance person would come in 5 minutes, he/she was a no show. Went to the front desk and asked for the manager, who came promptly. He had only been there for 2 weeks, seemed unaware of the hot water problem. He told me he had a plumber on the way for another issue and would get back to me. Less than an hour later, he, his maintenance guy, and an outside plumber came to my room. It appeared that there was no quick fix and the manager offered to comp the room for the previous night. Since the hotel was full, there was no other room available. At the suggestion of the plumber, I let the water run for over 15 minutes the next morning and we had hot water! I let the manager know but when I got my bill it was $0 for the two nights we stayed. Still would rather have had better performing hot water, but they seemed to have the problem on the way to resolution. Since seeing that the new manager has a many point plan in place to bring this location up to snuff, I'd give it another chance. The location is great and there is a beautiful park next door with walking trails and small lakes. Check it out, just ask about hot water in 301 or 401 before you take one of those!
Pros and Cons

The suite was nice and spacious with 2 bedrooms and a living room with a sofa and full kitchen and dining table for 4. Each room had a TV and there was even a fireplace! Free parking was a plus! I noticed the property also had (but we did not use) a pool, basketball court, grill and a small gym. The rooms were fairly clean - we did find a long hair in the shower and a pair of dirty socks on the floor making us wonder if the carpets were vacuumed. We also had an issue with a clogged drain and the AC not working, but maintenance came quickly to address the issues. The drain was unclogged but we were asked to move to another suite as the AC was new and needed to be fixed by the manufacturer. It was a bit of an inconvenience as we were asked to go back to the lobby to get new keys and we had to move all of our stuff, including everything we had in the refrigerator to the extreme opposite side of the hotel, which took about 4 roundtrips to move everything. Lastly, the Marriott Bonvoy site states the hotel serves hot breakfast, but this is not accurate. We had to pick up "bagged breakfasts" that were the same every day - bottle of water, piece of fruit, muffin, granola bar and a small yoplait yogurt. There was coffee in the lobby but no milk or cream for the coffee and on our last day, they did not even have coffee and said their coffee machine broke. Lastly, our hallway had the awful skunk smell of marijuana and it was a "no smoking" hotel, which I mentioned to the front desk. Masks are not required so there were a few guests walking around without masks and whenever they would step into the tiny elevator with us, we stepped out and waited for the next elevator.
Run away from here as quick as you can

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Ill leave a bulletized list of things we ran into. For reference, we are a family of 4 moving to ATL, living in this hotel for about a month and a half: - Weed: The smell of pot permeates this entire place, except the lobby. Countless times, I saw people smoking weed at the pool, parking garage, and I have suspicion that an employee smokes it in the maintenance room right next to our room - Violence: last night, my daughters and wife were in the parking garage when a man beat the crap out of his girlfriend/wife. Hotel seemed to do nothing, despite being immediately notified. - Water: pipes burst while we were here, causing the water supply to shutdown for a number of hours. When it was turned back on, dark brown water came out of the spout for about 2 hrs. - Local Crime: This place is a warzone. Multiple shootings in the local area over the course of our time here. - Outdated: this hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt. It's severely outdated, musty and NOT the typical Marriot experience. I have two weeks left here. Hopefully we all survive and live to see the day we close on our house and get out of this increasingly kinetic environment. I love Marriott, but sheesh this one is bad...
Enjoyed my stay

My experience was very good because of Steven Hawthorne, he is engaging , friendly and was eager to help me check in early since my visit was short . This is an older property but is kept clean and I was told it would be updated in the coming year. My room was spacious and comfortable .
Not as advertised

Caution: Do not stay at the Residence Inn Lennox Park, Atlanta. It is falsely advertised as wheelchair accessible. It is only minimally so and only with help, even for a person otherwise totally independent. Unlike its website said, there isn’t a full kitchen in the accessible unit. It has a regular height counter with a tabletop microwave and two burners which were too high to access as were the dishes. There was no shower chair so I was told to use one of the dining room chairs in the two-bedroom “suite.” The accessible bathroom had the shower head fixed in the wrong direction and the shower curtain allowed the whole bathroom and some of the bedroom to flood. Only one side of the bed was accessible and ½ of the bureau accessible to my reach. I could not get to the desk in the other room and there was no desk in the “accessible room.” The clothing rod had been moved from low to regular height. None of these things were fixed in the four weeks we stayed there during home renovations. I wrote the President of Marriott Bonvoy who referred it to the local hotel. Over three months and several emails concerning the matter, I have not heard from them in a month and a half.
