Nice Facility - over priced
This facility has nicely appointed rooms, yet lacks many basics of service. When we stayed here the hotel charged us a 'resort fee'. Yet, many of the restaurants were not open, the work out room was closed and the rooms were not fully serviced. The staff was minimally helpful. There are better places to spend this kind if money.
That was disappointing
booked a King Mountain View room for a kid free birthday weekend getaway through the resorts website. When we arrived we were happy to be able to check in early (1pm as opposed to the stated 4pm time) and were happy that there was a covered parking garage available for guest use. However, that is were everything stopped. When we arrived in oue room we found that we were not given the room we booked we were given a room with 2 queen beds, it did have a balcony and mountain view as we booked though. When we went back down to the front desk to explain tbe problem we were told that unfortunately the resort overbooked itself and the king room we reserved was not available for our stay, neither was any other king room. They did claim that the room we were now in was actually an upgrade from what was booked, though I don't see how. When I asked why we were never called, texted or even an email to be informed of this prior to us arriving, we were told that there should have been a call to us, unfortunately that didn't happen with no explanation as to why. The only thing they could offer at that time was to allow us to check out at no cost or penalty, they would not offer a comp or discount because according to them the room they gave us an upgrade already. We decided to think about it and did end up leaving. I could not see spending the amount of money they were charging and not getting the room we wanted. Luckily (though still a distance) we are about 2 hours away, so we walked the village for a bit, did some shopping and headed home for a nice birthday dinner and drinks out. The staff that we did deal with were nice enough. However the way this whole situation happened was just bad business and bad customer service!
Training
Very good location with t he view to the lake and one of the principal commercial Street in Lake Placid, The place is an excellent destination in winter times, an exclusive place, where the winter olympics have been held.
Great Value and Hotel
This is our second time staying at High Peaks, first time in the lodge. The fireplace in the lobby was great to cozy up to with a cup of coffee after a walk through town. The room looked exactly like the pictures and for the most part was clean (there were crumbs on the floor by the couch). The staff were all very friendly and we paid a good price for the room. However, I assumed since we booked a signature room with a balcony that there would be some type of view. The balcony just looked out onto a roof. Overall it was a great value and we will be staying here again.
Disappointing stay
Stayed in hotel during Nov 2020, very disappointed with the housekeeping service, they only entered the room to replace towel and empty trash, no cleaning what so ever and beds were not made. At the time of Covid I would think such a service is not acceptable at all especially the price is close to $200 a night. Facilities were also disappointing. The indoor swimming pool was very creepy hidden in the corner of the hotel and not well maintained at all. During our stay, I have also notice my phone was hacked which using the hotel WiFi. The Pictures on the internet is certainly misleading, think twice before you book this hotel.
