Wedding Weekend
Currenly the hotel is under construction and not being remodeled as they state upn arrival. The entire front lobby is being reconstructed with the front desk being a small rolling table in the dooway of a side office. We had called a few days before to confirm the reservation and was not informed of the construction. The construction continued during our entire stay Friday, Saturday and Sunday when we checked out. If you do choose to stay please do not stay in room 203 as it has an aweful smell, that we could not identify.
Clean & Comfortable
We recently stayed 2 nights at this property. We have used this hotel before and it doesn't disappoint. Now during the Covid issues, the hotel has adopted many new standards and I was happy with all of them. No housekeeping and they wait 24 hours before entering a room to clean it after a check-out. They will give you additional items like towels, etc if needed. The breakfast is now "grab and go" and they had a bunch of options and a toaster to toast any breads. All staff were wearing masks and there is plexiglass up at the front desk. I felt very safe and will definitely return when we come back to the area. Love having a first floor room.
Really Needs an Update.
You really do get what you pay for. We stayed here as the other brands were booked in the area. It wasn't terrible. But there were significant issues to consider before you book: The OK: - Bed was a double (not a queen), but comfortable - Overall was clean The BAD: - Room and hallway (2nd floor) smell terrible - like old smoke - Room needed a serious update. Old bathroom and shower. Stained carpet. Old, noisy room AC/Heating unit. - Continental breakfast was not appropriate for anyone with ANY sort of food allergy. Staff did not know anything about ingredients. Also, dining area used styrofoam and plastic, and no recycling was available. Shame...:(
Worst stay
This hotel is about 30 years old and that is what it looks like. We have stayed here often in the past BUT not in the last 10 years. It was the only room left in town. The quality of this hotel has plummeted downhill The room was musty. In fact it was so musty that my wife had an asthma attack and we were up most of the night In the morning, the front desk could not help uswith another room because they were full. I had to call the booking agent to get a refund. And then I had to be out by 11:00 even though we had an engagement to go to in the morning and were planning to stay for 2 days and had been awake most of night. I found the front desk unhelpful except that they did approve a refund This hotel is substantially inferior to its previous quality There is a Hampton Inn immediately next-door.
Above average because of customer service
Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express was good because of their service. The daytime desk manager was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is nice and clean but could definitely use some TLC. We did have some noise issues with the neighboring room in part because of the connecting door and you could hear EVERYTHING! The included breakfast was standard but the eggs, sausage and potatoes definitely lack flavor. Also the young woman who was taking care of the food items did not keep up very well. She did not have any sense of urgency for the people who were waiting. The location was very good. All and all I would stay again if I return to the area
