Wow!
My partner and I were staying in Bedale and got a taxi here on a Monday night. The food was restaurant quality and I can't praise it highly enough. My partner had the pate to start and I had a taste of it - sublime! He had the duck for his main course, and was raving about it, whilst I had the burger which was beautiful. The desserts were the creme de la creme, though! I had a lemon posset and he had a white chocolate mousse - absolutely amazing. The service was excellent, the surroundings were perfect so all-in-all, we had a wonderful evening. Would highly recommend.
Nice pub though the food can be hit and miss
We often go to this pub as it has a really nice atmosphere, comfortable seats, nice drinks. We’ve eaten there a few times and the food is often really great but sometimes a bit hit and miss. The steak and ale pie is fantastic, but I had a haddock and prawn curry which was really underwhelming and tasted a bit like the sauce was from a jar, though the prawns were fresh and juicy. Sometimes we’ve ordered the same dish from another visit as we’ve liked it so much but for some reason the quality varies. It’s a nice pub, just wish they’d nail the food so it’s consistently good.
Short break
Booked two nights B&B for a last minute stay, tied in with visiting family. This is a lovely country pub with nice rooms above. We were in room 1 which was bright and spacious. Tea and coffee tray which was refreshed the second day. There were also some bathroom essentials- if you are staying more than one night you will need to take extra as these were not refreshed. It is on a main road for anyone not used to noise. The pub itself has a lovely menu for anyone wanting to eat dinner and breakfast was great, with an assortment of options available.
Nice pub with great food
We have had many meals at this pub, and without exception, the food and the welcoming atmosphere, have always been first rate. We have never stayed in the rooms because we live nearby, however some of our friends have, and they were very pleased with everything.
Very welcoming and food delicious
We visited while we were staying at sedgewell barn for a couple of nights. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating and the pub had a lovely atmosphere! We eat here one evening and the food was absolutely delicious - couldn’t fault it! The staff couldn’t have done any more! Would definitely visit again!
