More about the hotel
Simply Fabulous!
We booked Birchwood House for a midweek break as I wanted to visit Holy Island. The house is located seconds from the A1 northbound but you can’t hear the road at all once your inside. When you first drive in you pass through a construction company yard but don’t be put off - this place is an absolute gem. We were welcomed by Gaye, who brought tea and cake (delicious) and gave us a bit of info about the area. We were able to choose which room we wanted as we were the only guests during this week. The room was beautiful, clean with a lovely bathroom and a welcoming sweetie on the pillow (always a winner for me lol). Breakfast was amazing, with a huge choice of every breakfast dish imaginable and a delicious hot breakfast, which was one of the best I have had anywhere. Gaye provided us with lots of useful information, a parking disc for Council car parks, and directions, and welcomed us back each day without ever being intrusive. To sum up I would say this is up there with the best places I have ever stayed, and we will definitely be booking to stay there again as two days is nowhere near long enough to appreciate all the places this area has to offer.
Lovely place!
We stayed here for a wedding at Brinkburn Priory. We were able to chose which room we wanted. The rooms are lovely. There is a large selection at breakfast. Gaye is extremely welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended!
Really good B & B
4 of us stayed here as we were attending a wedding at nearby Charlton Hall . When we arrived we were greeted by the owner , Gaye . Asked which room we prefered .We were given the choice & then taken into the lounge as she had made us coffee and cake . She really is the perfect host . She went the extra mile by taking the 4 of us into the wedding venue , which was about a 20 minute trip . Then she would,nt entertain taking anything off us for the journey . Anyway , back to the Birchwood .... lovely warm rooms , well stocked with tea and coffee and the breakfast the next morning was superb with loads of choice . We will definately use this place again as for the money it,s the best one we have stayed in . Thank you again Gaye
Our favourite b&b
Everything was just as we remembered - spacious rooms, immaculately clean. The beds are comfortable and big. The underfloor heating made for a toasty welcome despite the outside temperature of -1C. Mention must be made of the huge guest lounge, complete with pool table. Breakfast offers a really good variety with something for everyone and Gaye goes out of her way to please her guests. Will definitely be back.
Excellent
We have stayed at Birchwood House before, this time we brought our friends who were equally impressed. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, with everything we could possibly need. The lounge area is great, we spent time relaxing and playing pool. The breakfasts were fab, lots of choice. Be warned, Gaye is a feeder, we were plied with cake throughout our stay!
