While not simplest check in, everything else is solid

Check in is a mild hassle. It's not the easiest to spot where it is (looks like a street house), and you need to pre book and be let in by a staff member, once you go through the usual pre-amble of checking in and being shown the room, I have 0 complaints. Room size was good, bed was excellent, and the bathroom was clean. Was quite happy with my stay, and can easily see myself staying there again next time. My stay was a 1 night thing, so I can't comment for holidays. But as a day trip, pretty much perfect for what I wanted.

A Hotel that deserves to die
Reviewed 8 february, 2020
Nottingham is a hospitable and friendly city, well reflected in its hotels and restaurants. This hotel is seriously damaging to that reputation. I have stayed here before and gave it a very good and positive review, even glowing. But on this trip, despite having booked and paid in advance, I was asked for a £450 deposit. It was explained to me that after I had checked out they would inspect the room and if it was Ok then they would send me an email to that effect and credit the £450 back to me. As it happened I didn't have any credit cards and offered, reluctantly, to pay the deposit in cash. The only cash I had was euros and I offered a €50 note. There followed a series of frowns, several private telephone calls to someone higher up and eventually they accepted the €50. I emphasized that I would need the money back when I checked out and a promise was given that that would be Ok The next morning there was no one around to refund me the deposit. I had to leave for an early appointment and returned at about 3 pm to collect the cash. I was not invited in and a grumpy employee merely thrust the €50 note in my hand without a word of apology or explanation. I shall not return. Their policy is unfriendly, slightly humiliating and even hostile. For the sake of Nottingham's reputation for hospitality, this is a hotel that deserves to die.

Good value, clean and friendly

We booked a deluxe room for three nights and can't find fault with this place. The accommodation was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The guy on reception was thorough and friendly. Location is great, walking distance from the railway station. Relatively cheap accommodation in City Centre and convenient for short stays. Would definitely recommend this place.

Well I don’t know where to start?!.... My stay at this hotel was terrible, people beware that if you book on at this hotel be prepared to book a £50 “deposit” which you don’t get back?! The deposit was for in case the room got damaged or if you or any others used the mini fridge. Me and my friends decided not to use anything not even the complementary tea or coffee you get in your room. The beds were left in a good state, and when I had emailed and phoned this “Richard” about getting my deposit back my emails had been ignored! I would honestly not even bother booking with this hotel. The service was awful when me and my 2 friends were waiting in reception there was a couple in front of us once he had seen to them he was abrupt and rude and wasn’t really wanting to helpful so for me the service was shocking and frankly feeling like I have been robbed. I hope people find this helpful as I was really disgusted with this hotel. DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Beware!!!

The room was ok for £45, however when I got there I was advised that my payment had gone through fine, I would however have to make a second pre-payment of £45. The chap quoted terms and conditions and showed me on his tablet, while it does state that you have to provide a card it does not state that you have to give up £45. It was either pay up or you cannot have the keys. I did pay and was advised that it was for any damage or mini bar purchases. I was also assured that if there was no damage, there wasn’t or bar purchases, there wasn’t, I would get the money back within hours of leaving on the same day. The money was not returned so I had to call the bank and cancel the payment as unauthorised. Rather strange place and experience, won’t be going back.
