A BEAUTIFUL PLACE BUT ARRANGE YOUR MEALS CAREFULLY!

Reviewed 7 august, 2017

My wife and I stayed here overnight as we headed south through France. As we drove in we sensed it was the ideal place for a restful stop, and we were right. It is set in beautiful grounds with a lake and sitting areas. We parked our car undercover in the grounds and Roger showed us to our upstairs room on the 2nd floor. It was lovely and spacious with a beautiful bathroom. We asked Roger about eating and he recommended a local restaurant within walking distance and said he would book us in there so we sat down outside and had a couple of drinks with some other guests. It was then that Roger told us that the local restaurant was closed (there's only one) but there was another option: there was a nearby pizza place that delivers (remember that we'd been drinking so couldn't drive out). On phoning the pizza place though I was told that they don't deliver during July and August. Ouch! So we were left to have a banana sandwich from leftovers from our lunch. It was in lovely surroundings though! We had to leave early the next morning before Roger had been out for fresh bread but we had plenty to eat with cereals, yoghurts, fruit, cheese, bread and croissants, preserves, and tea and coffee all available. I would recommend a stay here so long as an evening meal is carefully arranged.

A Restful retreat

Wonderful welcome from the English speaking owners, Roger and Joanne who were extraordinary engaging hosts. We were introduced to a delightful, stunning 'olde worlde' room tastefully furnished and of good proportions. We were surrounded by the beautiful gardens with a small lake and the burble of the river running by and places to just sit and relax, paradise, according to my wife. True tranquility encompassed the entire premises. There was free wi-fi and secure parking and we went in to the small village for an evening meal in their equivalent to a British pub. French villages seem to be in a deeper slumber than their English equivalents. Breakfast was of a high standard and massive choice. Basically I can't praise this establishment enough.

Warm welcome and extremely relaxing

We were delighted to arrive and find La Ferme du Temple met all our expectations. Roger greeted us with a wonderful warm welcome and gave us a guided tour of the Butler’s Pantry (for guests to store food, honesty bar etc), lounge / dining area and bedroom. The reviews were glowing and our hosts lived up to all that had been stated in the well-deserved five-star rating. Our dinner was excellent and the generosity of our hosts regarding food and wine were first class. Breakfast was a complete surprise, as again the quality and extensive range certainly set us up for our travels. Everything was faultless and the bed was so, so comfortable ensuring a good night’s sleep! One negative point – we could only stay one night on this occasion. However, we are planning to return to explore the area and enjoy a TWO-NIGHT stay!

Very relaxing spot with English speaking hosts

This is a beautiful B&B, set in several scares with a pond and wildlife. The South African/English hosts are very helpful - they even did a load of washing for us. Right on cycle route, and bikes are garaged overnight. Honesty bar for beer & wine, plenty of spots to sit. Great food for our evening meal and a great breakfast as well. Very quiet.
