Great location, clean and comfortable

Having only paid a small amount we weren't expecting much but we're pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. My kids (8yrs & 12yrs) loved the mezzanine floor with their beds upstairs. The stairs are steep but there was a lockable gate at the top if you had smaller children. Slight stain in the shower tray but apart from that it was as expected.. The hotel allows dogs for a very small charge which was another bonus for us. The highlight of the stay was a delicious meal from a restaurant across the road.... Madeline's, you have to eat there!!
Great for Stop Off

We used this hotel as a stop off on our way from Calais to Paris. It’s just a few minutes off the A1 so is excellent to get up and go the next day. We were worried about check in due to lack of details on the website as we knew we would be arriving when reception was closed. We needn’t have worried though as check in was quick and simply by entering booking reference into the machine by the entrance, which then gives you your room number and code for the door. We did register for online check in were this information should be emailed from 2pm on the day of arrival, we arrived at 2.30pm having not received the email and assume checking in in person cancelled the request. The room itself was great. One of the comfiest beds I’ve had in a hotel in a very long time, no dip in the middle. Although my husband did complain about feeling the zip in the middle of the bed. We had a family room on the top floor, accessible by a lift at the front of the hotel or we just used the stairs. The two single beds are up some very steep steps. Our children had no issues with them (age 8&6), younger children may have an issue. There is a lockable gate at the top in case they are prone to midnight wandering. Only slight criticism was the air conditioning. It wasn’t particularly powerful and looking at it it could have done with a good hoover as it was full of dust. Otherwise a great, cheap place for an overnight stay. One of the few places I have found in France that accommodate a family of 4. We will definitely use this chain again.
Good family room. Good spot to have an overnight stop off.

Nice family room. Clean. Comfortable bed (double & two singles - see below). Easy after hours book in with a code sent by email a day before arrival. Lift for easy access as room on top floor. Ample parking in hotel car park. Our kids (10 & 19!) loved the upstairs part of the room (a second loft section with two single beds). A warning though if your kids are younger as there are steep stairs to the loft. Fine if your kids are up for it but do keep in mind.
Family room not suitable For families

Thank goodness this was an overnight stay! Dangerous & completely impractical ‘family room’Claustrophobic & stuffy,Stained mattress, room on two levels with steep stairs & small balcony.Poor comparison to budget stays in uk,sleeping in car would be a viable comparative option in future.I would not recommend this as an option with small children.Very little sleep, very little pleasure aside from back to back fort Boyard in French.

Wehave stayed here before and thought for the price we paid it was good value. We decided to book it on our way going on holiday and also stop there on the way back. Going out, we were on the 2nd floor, not a problem, the room seemed to smell of smoke, which wasn't pleasant. The toilet didn't want to flush properly and the tv wouldn't work. Coming back on our return, we were allocated the first floor, right opposite the lift, not a problem, but it was noisy, the room too hot, the air con didn't work properly, we couldn't have the window open as too much noise. neither of our bedside lamps worked and just flickered and flickered, good job i am not an epileptic! On a plus point the tv worked. I have stayed in b and b's thoughout France for the last 20 years and I have to say this was the most disappointing. Will go back to staying at Seclin next year
