More about the hotel
Lovely old style Mexican hotel.
This hotel has seen better days but it is still quite lovely. It is an incredible value At this moment my room is $50 US a day . It has a sprawling campus with 4 tennis courts and a large pool. The Rooms are large and have everything you want (a/c tv , room service and hair dryer). The restaurant is open from 7:30 to 10. The help is helpful and very sweet but little English is spoken here as well as most of Oaxaca.
Lots of work being done
Stayed for 3 nights. Lots of work being done at the hotel so lots of workmen and noise. Our room was big with 2 double beds and a big bathroom. Hot water for shower. Really good sleep. But it felt we were on a building site. The swimming pool is big but never went in - water didn’t look very clean. Breakfast was really good especially the Mexican choices. We just had cereal - granola, all bran or boxed options like Krispies or cornflakes plus yoghurt. Bread and cakes out in table in basket. Some fresh fruit - melon and papaya at buffet. Ate at restaurant for dinner. Again food was good quality and ample - fair prices. Lots of waiters for fairly empty restaurant. Check In wasn’t very friendly but when leaving a kind manager gave us 2 key rings and spoke to us in very good English. Left with a good feeling. Location is just out of the historic centre but close to a supermarket and felt safe. Liked the gardens - will be much better once all the work has been completed.
Disappointing Service
Long walk to city center, but taxis were inexpensive & readily available. Service personnel nice, front desk personnel were politely curt & not friendly or helpful. Ate breakfast at restaurant one time & it was absolutely delicious. Beautiful gardens, nice clear pool, clean room, comfortable beds, bathroom needed upgrading. Room was next to loud road.
Disappointed, also the primary photo on this website is NOT accurate
I stayed here for 7 nights; the pluses are the grounds, the pool and the green space. However, I would love if TripAdvisor writers could add a little "reality check" to their reviews. Here is mine; this property is extremely dated and in dire need of major maintenance. The hotel wasn't full and the desk agent assigned us a room that was directly underneath a room that was being completely gutted; the noise was horrible and I had to bring it to the manager's attention. The second room they gave us had ceiling air conditioning unit that dripped all night onto the floor. The engineer visited the following morning only to have it drip the remaining time.
Comfortable with Large Room
Stayed here for a Day of the Dead tour. Our room was large, quiet and a bit dated. It appeared that the hotel is in the middle of upgrading rooms. The bed was very firm, but I think this may be a consistent experience in Mexican hotels. The breakfast was tasty with a good number of choices and the staff attentive. The hotel is 15-20 minute walk to the center.
