More about the hotel
You get what you pay for
The CABINN is perhaps basic, but gives you what you need: reliable Wi-Fi, a flatscreen TV, a desk and (in my room) a bunk bed. I slept on the bottom bunk which was perfectly comfortable. The breakfast room is on the top floor so offers great views over Odense. Social distancing measures are in place and are easy to follow. Breakfast is basic (coffee from a pot, rather than latte for example) but perfectly acceptable. The hotel is right next to Odense railway station and a short walk from the Hans Christian Andersen Museum and Odense's old town, so could not be more centrally located. There were niggles: the bathroom is a small wet room and you need to remember to change the controls on the sink taps in order to switch between shower and basin and I found the shower water got everywhere, despite having a curtain! But if you're not expecting luxury, this hotel is fine.
Value for money
You get what you pay for - but everything is fine and VERY cheap - its clean and the personal is VERY serviceminded and Nice Its nearby trainstation and innercity Breakfast is A bit too ordinary compared to the extra Price 90 kr
Poor design, poor ventilation: a disgrace to Denmark!
Stayed here for 1 night on a stopover. The location of this hotel is excellent, since it is right next to the train station. Hence, it is very easy to leave and forget about this hotel - which is exactly what we wanted to do after our stay. We booked a Captain category room for 2 people, which is supposedly the largest category room at the hotel. More like the ship crew's galley than a captain's quarters, I should say, such was the exceptionally poor design of the room. The room was on the top floor, so had windows that slanted inwards, limiting the light and generally making it feel very small. Furthermore, the tiny wet room was idiotically located in the middle of the room along the wall (as opposed at the corner of the room, like all normal hotel rooms). Indeed, if you wanted to take a shower, the controls for the tap also controlled the shower, meaning that you had to stick your hand outside the shower curtain to change the temperature/power etc. This strikes me as a very un-Danish design. Likewise, the desk table was very small and the kettle was very dangerous, since it had no auto switch-off function like you would expect from modern kettles in hotels... in fact the metal casing got so hot as to burn our hands if we accidentally touched it. As for the ventilation, it either didn't work or was so terrible that our room was boiling all night despite the fact that outside it was only 8 or 9 degrees Celsius, so not exactly tepid. Although we had a 'balcony', the balcony door wouldn't stay open so no ventilation was possible. The only positive about the room is that the twin beds were satisfactory. Otherwise I would give this hotel 0/5 if I could. At least the service was OK, although they charged you a deposit of 100 DKK to rent a mediocre hairdryer - so mediocre, in fact, that I doubt anyone would actually want to steal it anyway! Overall, this hotel is a stain on Denmark's reputation for hospitality and good design. What a shame, since Odense is a pretty town. Those who only day-trip to Odense are very wise to do so, on the basis of this overnight accommodation option.
Basic, small for four
Our family of four shared a double bunk room. It was cosy. The ceiling isn't that high, so the top bunks were quite claustrophobic - my daughter (13) cried! On the upside, the location is good, the staff great and the view from the breakfast room brilliant.
Very clean hotel
Stayed 3 nights with my young son. Hotel was very clean and welcoming. Hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Perfect location for train station. Breakfast buffet selection was good. Rooms are small but only used hotel as a base for our stay so not a problem, the bunk bed was high though. Would happily stay here again.
