Beach pod adventure

We have just returned from a 2-night stay in one of the Onich beach-pods. The pod was warm and comfortable, if a little short on space (as might be expected). The accommodation offers everything you would need for a short break - a clean, compact bathroom with shower, kitchen unit with kettle, microwave and 2-ring ceramic hob plus essential crocks and cutlery. There is also a foldaway table and chairs. As a family of 3, we would have preferred less kitchen and more space - we were out-and-about all day, there's a wide choice of cafes and restaurants in Fort William and breakfast in the hotel is included in the price. As others have written, both hotel and pods could do with an upgrade but for the end of the season and with staff shortages, everywhere was sufficiently clean. Breakfast is a buffet affair in the hotel restaurant overlooking the loch - plenty to choose from and well-managed by the charming Ray, who displayed a friendly, professional manner throughout. But the absolute best thing of all, was to wake-up to stunning views over the loch to the mountains. For location alone, Onich beach pods score a definite 5+ stars

I took my wife here overnight on a Wowcher deal, I wasn't expecting much but I got even less. The room we had was freezing!!! Even with the heater on all night we woke upto condensation on the inside of the window. The firealarm on the ceiling was hanging off by wires and the battery had been removed, thank God their wasn't a fire!! Their were marks all over the walls including marks where they clearly had the TV mounted before moving it and also paper peeling off the ceiling. Bathroom shower was good, hottest thing in the hotel! The staff service was great! And the food was fantastic so kudos there, very reasonably priced drinks and the staff done fantastic coping with a new POS system. The "Entertainment" room was a dump, filled with old bottles and cans and ladders, which is a shame as my wife wanted a game of pool. Breakfast was good but not very warm.great Haggis but again it was so cold I went downstairs to try and warm up but none of the heaters in the hotel were on. We checked out early so we could heat up in the car!!

Recently stayed in onich at the beach pod overlooking the beach. Fantastic break pods are lovely and cosy. Staff were all very helpful and we had breakfast in the hotel and dinner one night(all good). Scenery beautiful....Will be back hopefully in the summer.
Great short break by the loch

We booked a 3 night stay in a Pod on a deal. It is right by the loch next to the hotel. The pod is a stones throw away from a beach where it is possible to swim in warmer weathers. The location and scenery are stunning. There is plenty of places to visit and to go for walks for all abilities..The waterfall at Inchree is nearby and beautiful. The pod was large for 2 with a fridge, hob and microwave and there is plenty of outdoor space. It can sleep 4 but might be a little bit of a squeeze. The shower was warm rather than hot. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Fresh fruit salad, great sausages and black pudding. On the middle night we had dinner, fresh ingredients, good flavours and generous portions, perhaps could have been slightly cheaper and slightly smaller, The staff were friendly and efficient. However, there is a staff shortage so in busier times you may have to be patient and wait. This hotel has lots of potential and has done well to survive the pandemic. If you get a reasonable deal I would definitely check it out.
Ignore the negative reviews - lovely stay!

We have just got home from a lovely night at the Onich Hotel. We had DB&B for one night with our dog and it was great value. We had a loch view room which is definitely worth the extra as the views are beautiful, prefect location. We stayed in room 5, it has just had a little redecoration, with a new bed which was really comfy. Enjoyed a bath in the morning, lots of hot water. All members of staff were very friendly and the service was really really good. We were able to sit in the bar for our evening meal so we could sit with our dog, but if you didn’t want that the restaurant is dog free. The food was really nice, just too full for a pudding. Breakfast had everything you could want - yogurts, cereal, cooked breakfast, toast etc Few walks on the loch side with our dog made the stay even better. Would definitely recommend!
