More about the hotel
First time at the Tam and will be back!
After enjoying our stays at the sister resort, the Divi All-Inclusive, we decided to try out the Tamarijn this trip. We had a GREAT time and can't wait to come back! The highlights: > The newly renovated rooms are incredible. Super comfortable beds, super comfortable bucket chairs, modern and clean features. Our kids loved the "color wheel" to change the color of the lightstrip in the room. We really appreciated the drawers under the sinks in the bathroom for extra storage and the rainfall shower head was a nice touch. The bathrooms are small but feature everything you need. > The view cannot be beat. Truly this is the closest to the ocean you can get. The sliding glass door (really it's like a sliding glass wall) puts your feet in the sand immediately outside the room. We were in building 22 and we had plenty of sandy beach outside; not rocky at all where we were. > The food was SO good. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast (especially loved the smoothie bar and made-fresh omelets and waffles) and typically ate at the snack bar for lunch. Our dinner favorites were Red Parrot (highly recommend the salmon dish) and Palm Grille which was fun for the kids (make your own hibachi at the table) and had the most tender steak. We didn't have a bad meal during our stay. My only "con" is that we were a bit far from the Tamarijn lobby so that took some getting used to and required some planning in terms of remembering to bring everything we'd need for the pool, etc. The golf cart shuttles were frequent which was helpful and we learned to really love the walk back along the beach. Overall I can't say enough about our stay, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful (especially Jorge at the Tam snack bar), and the weather/view/white sand just can't be beat. We can't wait to return! **Also, the on-site COVID testing was so convenient and easy. Obviously not fun having to get a test to return to the US but it was seamless, we got the results via email within 24 hours and the whole operation was stress-free and professional.
Beautiful beach but just ok overall
First let me say that Aruba is beautiful and I would return to the island. I just probably would not select this resort. The beach is beautiful / picturesque and may be your cup of tea if you are looking to lie on the beach and tan or sit in your room and enjoy the view. Swimming is more difficult because the beach is rocky just beyond the first couple of feet - make sure you have water shoes if you are looking to swim- flip flops won’t cut it. I note that a few miles down the road where the scuba boats depart the beach is soft white sand all the way in - much easier for swimming. Food - well what can I say? I would offer that although the resort holds itself out as all inclusive it is difficult enough to get access to food / drinks that it is not-exactly all inclusive. Upon arrival we were presented with a list of restaurants on site and advised that we needed to make reservations for dinner. But it is our first day - so make sure to tell them that so they can find some availability. We get to the room and review the list - this restaurant only open from 5:00 to 11:00 Monday through Thursday; the next restaurant only Friday through Tuesday etc. etc. so a bit confusing. There are two restaurants open every day for most meals that are buffet style. Fresh orange juice in the morning (yay)! Mimosas not available at breakfast except for Sunday. In fact the bars at the all inclusive are not open until 11. Now, I am on vacation and am wishing for a mimosa and am wondering - is there a law in Aruba that prohibits sale of alcohol before 11? The answer - no. All you have to do is stop by the pool at the adjacent Dutch village where they have a bar open before 11 and pay for your drinks. Mimosas 2 for 1. Hmmm. And did I mention that it is about 1/4 mile to get from many of the rooms to the eating places? About 1/2 of that to get to the all inclusive bar. This is why everyone at the resort carries their water bottles (too difficult otherwise to access drinks). There are no roving waiters on the beach. You can walk or call in advance for the front desk to send you a golf cart to get to the eating and drinking places. They are reasonably prompt with pickup. Now the dinner reservations- so Day 1 it is exactly as stated at checkin - sure - no problem it’s your first day- we have a table for you. Second day - mid-day I try to get a reservation for the evening and am told the only one they have at the restaurant we want is at 9 pm. Ok 9 pm it is - but that clued me in that I should book all of the reservations “now” so we are not eating every night at 9 pm. So I ask to book the remainder of the week. We can book for three days out only. Even then it was difficult to get seating at our regular dinner time. Between the distance to access food and drink - and challenging booking of dining reservations (no reservations needed if you want to eat at the buffet), this all adds up to not-exactly all inclusive for me. The end result - we rented a moped so we could get Starbucks coffee in the am (the resort’s coffee is terrible) kept snacks and wine in our small room fridge so that we didn’t have to hike to the lobby when we got hungry. In short - what we would normally do if we were staying in a regular hotel. Room cleanliness was good. The bellman and golf cart drivers were courteous and helpful. To get beach towels - only one exchange per room per day - you must bring your towels to the towel hut to exchange. Towel hut near lobby (far). If you are a newbie and come without tour old towels you will be scolded. Sigh.
Amazing first stay at Tamarjin
Had a wonderful experience with my 10 year old daughter. Beautiful quiet place. Very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful Great food choices (even for the pickiest eaters as my daughter). Rooms are newly renovated.
Greatly Needed Vacation
My Wife and I traveled to the Tamarijn from January 23rd to January 29th. We arrived at 1:30 pm and were warmly greeted by the bellhop who immediately got our luggage from our Wix taxi. We had our temperature taken and were brought up to the front desk to check in. It took only minutes to checkin and we were told our Deluxe room was ready. We were taken by shuttle to the room , all this took less than 15 minutes from arrival. The newly renovated room are spectacular! They are a lot bigger and so much nicer than the last time we stayed here 1n 2018. The king bed was so comfortable, and the bathroom is so nice with the double sinks and rain shower head walk in shower. You can't beat the views of the beach and ocean from the room. We loved the restaurants at the Tamarijn,. We ate at the Paparazzi Italian restaurant which was our favorite. We also ate at the Ginger asian restaurant which was so good also. The palm Grill where you get to cook your meal at the table was so much fun. The bars are all so good and the Bunker bar is great for the views over the ocean. I now have to give special thanks to several individuals who made our vacation so special. Edwin one of the bartenders who we have become friends with in our number of trip to the tamarijn is a great person besides a great bartender. Another bartender Jorge is one of the funniest men I know and also a very good bartender who makes it so much fun to have drinks at the bar he is working. John is another bartender who we know for a number of years and will do he vest best to make sure you are having a great time. I can not end this review without mentioning Janine one of the front desk staff who helped us so much our our difficulty in obtaining our return home CoVid test results. She went above and beyond in helping us and making sure all was taken care of. My wife and I can't thank her enough, and the Tamarijn is lucky to have her! In closing I will recommend the Tamarijn to anyone traveling to Aruba as it is one special place to stay at. I will also add they did an exceptional job in these hard CoVid times and made you feel safe no matter where or what you were doing .
Always an amazing time
I can not say enough about the amazing staff at the tamarijin all inclusive resort. The moment we checked in we had a bellman grab our luggage and drove us to our rooms. The drinks are phenomenal and so is the food! It was different than usual because of COVID but we felt so safe. They have hand sanitizing stations all around the resort with employees reminding you to sanitize before entering a restaurant or coming back from being off the resort. They checked our temperatures whenever we stepped back onto the resort. No matter what the ask was they staff was always smiling and so helpful. We will be back! thank you!!!
