More about the hotel
Celebration Package Perfection!
As usual, Columbia Gorge Hotel went beyond normal expectations and made our birthdays/anniversary celebration a night to remember forever! Or room was beautiful(the whole place), the food was delicious and the flowers are still gorgeous! The staff,Alp I'm talking about YOU, was delightful and so helpful. The only drawback was due to COVID. The bar was closed so there was no live piano music. Maybe next time.
Birthday Celebration
Took advantage of their Celebration Package to celebrate my wife's birthday. This package included a room for the night, a dozen roses, and dinner in a private area for two, which included a bottle of wine. We had our own private dining room and enjoyed an excellent dinner with great service. Staying in a place with a lot of history and is around 100 years old was great!. The staff was fantastic!
Owner
I recently visited the Beautiful amd historic Columbia River Gorge Hotel The staff I met Chris and Sarah were awesome very welcoming and Friendly and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The Lodgi s incredible with cool Antiques and paintings even got to stay in a brass bed. The grounds were immaculateand all decorated for Christmas. The view of the Columbia River and the hills and mountains is Breathtaking. I really recommend this as a romantic getaway or place to stay when traveling. Also the prices are very reasonable. Don’t forget to congratulate them as they celebrate their 100 year anniversary this year. Thanks again Chris and Sarah.
Amazing Setting
This historic hotel is in a gorgeous setting right above the Columbia River. I stayed in a King River View with Fireplace suite and had the most fantastic views from the corner suite. A mini fridge allowed me to have a little more flexibility with meals while I was there for nine nights. Nice terry robes and staff were able to get me a few more bed covers so I could sleep under enough weight of blankets. The room service was good, and not too expensive; however, when I asked to borrow a spoon from the kitchen they gave me a take-out cutlery package. If I hadn't have ordered room service and reserved the glass ware I would have had to make do with plastic cups. No coffee or tea service in the room and the coffee in the lobby was not to my liking (Starbucks is only a mile away). Furnishings are a little on the discount side, except for one or two nice pieces that were salvaged from earlier times. Would have been stunning if they had been able to keep period-appropriate furnishings and artwork. Lastly, granted it is low season and we're under pandemic restrictions, but they have a lovely outdoor terrace that could have served a dozen or more tables while still following state mandates for air flow and physical distance. Would have been nice to eat outside with those views, if only Thursday, Friday, Saturday night and Sunday brunch.
Historic and Relaxing Getaway
What a great stay at the Beautiful Columbia Gorge Hotel. It was built in 1921 (100 years ) and it has been well taken care of. The entire staff became family like. Monte, is a hoot. Jenny and Dennison in the spa are amazing and on my top 5 massages ever. Sarah helped book a package deal and saved us a bunch . The seafood pasta dish was over the top good. The guy that delivered it to our view of the river room was hilarious. We stayed close to the Benson Room . Our 13 lb. pomeranian family member was king of the hotel. If your in the area just stop and look. The old elevator is worth the stop. And just 3 minutes to downtown Hood River. Thank You. We came home fresh . David, Sherrie and Rocky
