Mediocre.
I am going to do my best to describe this place. It is a cross between a very nice Hilton and a truck stop Red Roof Inn, BUT you don’t know which you are getting until you arrive. We ended up with the crappier end of that deal. The room was a standard queen, as soon as we opened the door is wreaked of musty, humid, indoor water park bathroom. It was getting late, and my husband and I thought maybe we could open the door a bit and air the place out. We did that literally everyday, and it still smelled. It was always humid the room as well. The AC unit worked, but the temp had to be adjusted to 63 degrees to get the place to truly cool down. The AC unit would periodically making noises as well- kind of like a constantly chirping cricket... that was most annoying when sleeping. More about the room: housekeeping did not visit our room at all in four days. We had to request soap, toilet paper, and to have the trash taken out. The grounds are nice, but several pavers are loose, the mini golf was covered in leaves, I’m not even sure where you would get golf clubs and balls from. The pool table and other outdoor games appeared well used and in need of some TLC. The laundry facility was good. It takes credit cards and there was a vending area for soap. The pool water was absolutely FREEZING in both pools. I believe I read they are heated. I would highly doubt that. The hot tub was nice. The bar tender at the pool bar asked us about 5 times if we wanted to order the pizza special. We weren’t even sitting at the bar. We were at a table near the bar. She called over to us, told us about the special, we said ok, thanks... She proceeded to try to get us to purchase food at least four more times. The gym was OK, the treadmills are very nice, there were also pulley cable machines, which I like. The downside? There was no view. Mostly you faced walls. You couldn’t see the tv from the treadmills. The gym is right in front of the pool area- it would have been nice to be able to see outside while exercising. Water, towels, and Lysol wipes were available. Breakfast: super misleading. It is advertised that breakfast is free. For free they have bagels, croissants, muffins, prepackaged danishes, oranges and apples. Coffee/juice/milk is also included. BUT they have an entire hot breakfast buffet that they literally harass you to buy. It’s $7 per adult and kids eat free. I didn’t plan on spending ANYTHING on breakfast. We were asked, easily, 5 times each morning if we wanted to buy the other breakfast. NO means NO. It was to the point that we felt awkward for not buying it. They really need to change this practice. Overall, I most likely would not stay here again. Unless I knew for sure I was going to be in the nicer part of the hotel. For what I paid ($297 with parking... shortly after I purchased I saw the rate went at least as high as $500, not incl parking) (parking is $15/day) I really shouldn’t complain, but if you are looking to stay there for several days in a row I would look elsewhere.
Terrible experience, rude overnight staff,
My fiancé and I checked into the Hilton Double tree at seaworld and we’re introduced to an unsanitized room that had trash, dirty towels on the bed as well as stained wet towels in the bathroom. I went down to speak with front desk and showed them the pictures I took of the unsanitized room and asked why I was checked into an unsanitized room like that. The gentleman at the front desk then came over after hearing my complaint and started telling me that the room was indeed sanitized they just had another guest move rooms. I couldn’t understand how that made sense considering regardless of who moved rooms we were still introduced into a filthy room. We were treated very unfairly and rude and were waiting on an apology that never happened. My fiancé then tried to ask the same question I did and was completely ignored. After waiting about 20 mins they finally moved us into another room and when we asked if we could use a luggage cart considering the rooms were far they told us they didn’t have any when we walked by two when we were coming down to speak to them!
Nicely landscaped; good location, but...
Being a Hilton Honors member, I made my reservation through their site (one week's stay)--king room. Upon check in, the lobby area is very nice, clean and well kept. They have a marketplace area and some restaurants. Conversation with registration clerk was minimal, no mention of the FREE BREAKFAST or any other amenities. Stayed in room 904- first floor over looking the main pool. Each room has a sanitized sticker on it. Basic amenities, bed, TV, microwave and refrigerator (not "stylish guest rooms" as indicated on their website) The room had black mold in the bathroom area, furniture scratched and dinged, the room smelled 'musty' and no staff ever called or knocked on the door to ask if we needed our trash emptied, towels or toiletries. When we went out to get provisions off site, we used those bags for trash. I was surprised to see the filters in the AC were clean. The 'free breakfast' in the photo--not sure where that was, because the main buffet every day cost money and Danish in the marketplace was $7.00 (there is one place where you can get free coffee). There is a bar by the pool (this is also where the smoking area is located). We didn't eat dinner at any of the on site restaurants, so I can't comment. They do a great job taking care of their landscaping. I have stayed at many Hilton/Doubletrees and, aside from the exterior, their rooms are a far cry from Doubletree's standards. I don't think you can blame COVID on dated furniture, mold, poorly repaired walls.
Wonderful people and property
I had another wonderful stay at the Doubletree. Mauren was very nice and helpful at the front desk. The pizza from the market is still as great as it was from my last visit here. The lobby and room are very nice and clean. I love walking around the grounds at this property. It’s a pleasure staying here. I can’t wait until my next stay.
EXPECT LESS - ALOT LESS
We booked this hotel for a one night stay on our way to southern Florida. The check in line was long for HOURS! (people weren't all wearing masks, and werent required to. At the check in desk they were handed a mask but that was after waiting in line behind or in front of people for VERY LONG periods of time!) We were lucky enough to have arrived during a lull, but after that the line was OUT THE DOOR through 11PM that evening. At 1:30 am there were still people in line for check in! We were given a key to a room that was occupied (and we weren't the only people to have that happen to). Upon returning to the front desk, the line was out the door so I walked to the side and asked a staff member to help us - who seemed quite irritated. Although, they seemed to be extremely overworked, and the place was understaffed. When we finally got to our room, the rug was DISGUSTING with stains. The rooms were accessible through a dark alley with stairs, and felt very old school motel-ish. My shower had "gross hairs" in it, and old chunks of soap left in it. We slept and checked out ASAP. I will say that other than the 1 check-in staff - the rest were extremely kind and friendly. The grounds had gorgeous potential. I would never stay at this hotel again and was disappointed that this was a DOUBELTREE by HILTON establishment. I expected more quality from that name.
