Disgusting find - worst hotel experience ever
Our family (w/ 2 small children) were transiting in Osaka for 1 night before heading over to Kyoto. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Osaka Station and price. The booking was made through Agoda. We had arrived at around 10pm; the hotel was not that close to the station with approximately 10-15 walk from Osaka Station. The hotel was in an alley way with no clear signage from the Main Street. However with google maps, finding the hotel should not be a problem. Check-in was reasonably quick. The room was on the small side, older - not newly renovated as it was advertised, but functional. For the price that we had paid, we were satisfied. In the morning prior to check out, I was checking the room to see if we had left anything behind. Upon pulling out the sheets I had discovered a USED CONDOM which had fallen out of the sheets and on to the middle of the room. To our disgust, our kids unfortunately saw it and had asked us what it was. This was a first for us and definitely not what we had expected in Japan. Although our stay was not impacted, under the circumstances and the carelessness, this was not acceptable. Not only finding a USED CONDOM, but also having the burden to explain to our 5 and 9 year old kids what it was. We told the reception during check-out, however with the language barrier, it did not seem that they had understood what we were saying. I followed up this incident with an email to the hotel and Agoda requesting for a refund. The hotel was apologetic but declined the refund. Agoda was not able to assist as they said it was up to the hotel. It is not about the money or getting a free stay, since it was only $93.54 AUD, rather it was about accountability and taking responsibility from the hotel. Obviously this did not happen. I'm sure they have opinions on what constitutes a refund. But to me, it's the same as going to a restaurant, finishing your meal and finding a toe nail in your last bite. I will never stay in this hotel nor this chain ever again. For something that I believe could have been easily spotted during cleaning, I would hate to imagine what cleaning, IF ANY, they do to other areas of the room. Stayed on the 19 Jan 2020 Room number 611.
Near, easy to get transportation, great restaurants in the area, to much shopping in the easy to walk to. Nice and Clean room that even fits big luggage. Good entertainment at the ground floors jazz club....
The best in its class
We were able to find this hotel after arriving at Osaka Station, simple walk down a few blocks...tucked away in a quiet alley. Our room was small, but it had every thing we could want. Comfy bed, quiet room, black out curtains, all the shampoos and lotions you could want, and a tub to soak in. We loved it. We stayed 5 nights. We were close to shopping and just walking around at night was amazing, the little restaurants and shops amazing. If you are an avid shopper this spot is near three of the biggest department stores in Osaka, you can really get your shopping gear in motion, Diamaru, Hankyu and Hanshin all withing a block near the Osaka Station. We found a great ramen dinner spot right on the corner, such a treat. Would not hesitate to recommend. Also the underground Umeda Shopping Mall at the end of the street, go down the stairs to the mall. Enjoy, we loved it, have fun.
Stayed here in Osaka for 2 nights. Excellent all around. Location, service, housekeeping, size of rooms etc etc. However if you do not want Japanese food for breakfast then the spread may be limited. Lots of cafes nearby and Nishi Umeda subway station is 5 minutes away on foot and has multiple food options. Excellent ramen shop which opens late just around the corner. Family mart right at the hotel and 7 11 at the back. What more can you ask for?
Comfy budget hotel in Osaka
My husband and I stayed for four nights during our three week trip to Japan; we decided on Osaka as a base to get the most out of our JR rail passes (The city is well connected to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara and a variety of other cities!). The hotel itself is situated close to Osaka’s main city station (about 8 minute walk) and about 1 stop on the JR line to Shin-Osaka for the Shinkansen (or 1,200 yen taxi ride away if you have luggage). On arrival the staff were very helpful and checked us in quickly. The room was compact as expected and well equipped (fridge, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries, etc). Given we paid for a budget hotel, we were pleasantly surprised at the excellent job done by the housekeeping team, servicing the rooms daily to a very good standard (dusting, hoovering, making beds, etc.)!!! Only negative feedback we had was the lack of coin laundry (for Japanese hotels this is something that’s expected), and the bathroom was a little dated. Otherwise, it’s a great little hidden gem, conveniently located, offering well serviced rooms at a very reasonable price!
