Hotel in the heart of Oslo
Great location, but you may need help to find the entrance as it is inside the old train station, through a retaurant. Modern rooms with high ceilings and original art. Large reception-area and lifts to the upper floors. Quite long corridors. Some rooms have a fantastic view of the bay. It's advisable to have a larger room for longer stays. Enjoy Oslo!
Small autumn holiday in the citycenter
This year's autumn holiday gave me the opportunity for a couple of days in the capital. Check-in and moody chat on arrival, got upgraded room with bathtub up in the left wing of Østbanehallen. Fantastic cool room with an industrial feel. Good breakfast and nice walks in the rain, and coffee with friends
Centrally placed hotel for travel and exploring Oslo
Surprising decor for a refit of this lovely old building in central Oslo of ‘urban ghetto’ style. You will either embrace it or it won’t work for you, either way you will remember your stay! Our room 338 had good views over the square and was soundproof. Interesting furnishing though lack of storage space, just 6 coat hangers and no cupboard space meant we were unable to unpack, but it might reflect the typical duration of the average guest. Self-service breakfast, could be improved. Music choices for main lobby and breakfast room were interesting.
Great base for exploring
3 of us, mid twenties, stayed July 2019. Great location right in the station, love the self service check in. Room was bright, airy and clean - excellent views. Onsite restaurant was great for a quick bite to eat. Loved Oslo.
An extra star for the location
We stayed in the Grand Central for a night on our way to Bergen by train. It is part of a huge building housing a food court/ fancy restaurants and some shops. The staff are friendly but you hardly meet any of them. The reception area is crowded with uncoordinated stuff/ furniture and people are constantly using it as a thoroughfare. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with quirky furniture but a bit small. Ours had a tiny level difference step in the middle. The window views are gorgeous if you have an outside view. The corridors can be brightened up a bit and the recessed door entries can have more light. The restaurant is also crowded when it’s a capacity. The breakfast spread is good and wholesome but nothing fancy. The best part is its location and you can just cross over to the railway station in minutes, not needing to get outside at all. And it is a stones throw from the main attractions and Karl Johan’s Street.
