Good stay in Osnabrück
Travelling to a fair in Osnabrück, I needed a place to stay for 5 days and chose this hotel for it´s distance to the fair and price range. Both things checked out perfectly. My first impression arriving in the evening, did not bode well though. The young lady in the reception was more busy trying to sell her car to the man in front of me, who was either a member of the staff or a friend of hers, I have no idea. I stood right behind him and heard most of the conversation until he noticed me and told the girl that maybe I would like to check in. Check in complete and I got to my room, which was standard, but ok. Clean and with a mini fridge. All good, as I was just there to sleep and then work the entire time during my stay. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, quite a big spread and every day something new. The lady working there was very nice and brought you coffee as soon as you sat down. I was in the bar once, had good local beers but the girl working behind the bar was unable to smile or so it seems. Parking can be a problem if you arrive late, but plenty of streets where you will find something nearby. Also walking distance to several decent restaurants. Even though a few members of the staff are not too open and friendly, I wouldn´t mind staying there again.
Wonderful stay
We had a delightful stop over thanks to this hotel. Our room was huge and the ensuite was very spacious. It had everything we needed for a comfortable nights rest. In the morning we had a fantastic breakfast with everything you needed to get going for the day, a huge selection of cereals, hot and cold meats, eggs, breads and every spread imaginable. The town is wonderful and we really enjoyed walking round taking it all in. Well worth a visit and this hotel made it better! 10/10 for sure!
Slooooowwwww
After walking in, we waited for a LONG time for someone to come check us in. Rang the bell. Rang the bell again. Finally wandered into the restaurant to look for help. A young man said he'd come help us, but after about 10 minutes we went looking again. Eventually a guy I can only assume is the chef came out and got us checked in. By the time we got our luggage hauled up in the tiny elevator, the kitchen was closed when we got to the restaurant. The young guy working in the restaurant was able to get us pizzas. He was a nice kid who seemed overwhelmed. We had a family room - king and twin in one room, twin in another room, and a bathroom. The twin in the room with a king seemed more like couch cushions covered in a sheet. The sheets were bumpy and pilling. The shower was tiny - my husband could barely fit his shoulders in! It was hot in the room, so we needed the windows open. Unfortunately, this let in a lot of road noise. Breakfast in the morning was ok. All that being said, the room was clean.
Great value for money
Didn't book this hotel, I was transferred here by its sister hotel due to incomplete renovations. Glad I did, clean and tidy rooms, great choice for breakfast, free wifi with fantastic staff. This hotel was great value for money. I would book this hotel again.
Finally a hotel with family suites
This traditional German hotel offers a number of single, double and even family suites. We, a family of four, often times have problems finding rooms that accommodate all of us. The suite we stayed in included one master bedroom with one king bed (two twins together), one twin bed, TV, mini-fridge, small table with two chairs and a large wardrobe, a separate bed room included a twin bed, night stand and a desk with chair. The bathroom was a bit dated. The shower needed new caulking on the bottom, but everything was clean. Since it's a traditional German hotel, it also came with feather beds and feather pillows. I noticed, though, that two comforters were made of a down alternative, which I preferred. The hotel has an elevator, so it's easy to access the rooms on all floors. Check in was easy. The staff spoke English and was very friendly. The restaurant on site is very good. The steak was cooked very well. The cook even checked with us to make sure everything tasted well. It certainly did. For those who like Kegeln - the German bowling, head downstairs to knock down a few pins. Most impressive was the breakfast. A wonderful buffet featuring many different fresh breads, rolls, croissants, jams, cold cuts, cereal, puddings, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausages, boiled eggs, juices, milk, teas and coffee. Our daughter even got a hot chocolate. We were spoiled. Thank you very much for a nice stay! - Note: There were problems with the wifi when we stayed there, but it should be working properly by now. Starting 1 March, wifi should be free. Until then, it's 5 EUR/24hrs. - ALSO - IMPORTANT: Do not use travel sites to book the hotel. Call them to get a better rate. We found a rate on a travel site, then called the hotel and saved $$.
