I hope these people are now out of business. The worst B & B experience in my decades of traveling. Horrible rude hosts who are so self absorbed and pretentious that they are blind to their abhorrent behaviour. They are a disgrace to the B & B community and to the town of Osoyoos.

The Merlot room at this B&B was nice and big with a nice sized bathroom with a shower tub. Lots of room to stretch out in the room. The room had french doors off to a patio with lounge chairs and a gorgeous view of the valley and the lake around Osoyoos. In addition there was a sitting area with a TV for the house guests, a kitchen for coffee and a refrigerator for cooler stuff, etc. The breakfast was ample, prepared by the owners and unique with a smoothie, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and a main dish. while we there we had eggs and toast and french toast with berries and maple syrup. The place was clean, comfortable. The only issue was the house was very hot as the temperature was 35 C or 100 F. The owners did not leave the AC during the day and the house got very hot and it was uncomfortable sleeping at night. Except for the AC it was a good stay. There are also stairs outside to the guest entrance, so if you have mobility issues you might reconsider staying at the Spare Room.

We booked four nights for what we thought would be a great experience. We called to say we were going to be late. He started to complain when we called. When we arrived he rudely answered the door and started complaining about us being late (we were only 15 minutes late). Once inside he complained and told us it was not a hotel. (This went on as he also stated we ruined his dinner plans etc). At this point we wanted to leave and as we tried to open the door he blocked it with his foot and locked it. We felt we were being held against our will. During this he asked us for our credit card (which we did not give him). We forced the open and called the police. Right after we left I saw my credit card had been charged for the full amount! Very upsetting as we then had to try to find a place to stay and could only stay two nights. This was very bizarre and affected us for a couple of days.

On arrival our reception was horrendous – rude and pompous. We were accused of arriving outside check-in times (these we were not aware of), and told that this was due to our planning our journey incorrectly. In addition, we were told in no uncertain terms that we had parked in the wrong place – inspite of having tried to park in the most convenient place. This verbal abuse went on for some time before we were finally shown to our room. We were told that breakfast would be served at 8.30am the following morning – there were no other options. The following morning, at breakfast, whilst enjoying chatting with the other quests, our pompous host insisted on giving us a lengthy and detailed account of all his favourite wineries – regardless of the fact that due to all our travel plans, none of us had any interest in visiting them. His interference spoilt the atmosphere over breakfast. Our room was fine, as was the shared kitchen and sitting room. There were lovely views from the shared terrace and the breakfasts were lovely, but, due to the attitude of the host, would definitely not recommend staying at this B&B.

We had a very nice stay at the Spare Room- beautiful house with nice views of the valley-overliooks a horse stable/track with the lake in the distance. Extremely quiet neighborhood away from the tourist bustle. Spotless rooms and delicious breakfasts.
