Exciting , romantic Castel
Not only comfortable and calm but special and romantic. The main building is a real Castel with a lot of atmosphere and charm. The rooms are at nice buildings around , viewing green grass , forest , horses and lake. Breakfast is of high quality and dinner is special at reasonable price. Perfect for three days stay and spin around.
Disappointing evening on the road, definitely wouldn't revisit.
We stayed here on our way to Gothenburg after a very long day of travel and were very disappointed in the amenities and location. It wasn't convenient to anywhere, especially after a ferry and several hours of driving. We booked this hotel for three reasons: Peaceful, bucolic location and not too far off our main route (it seemed to be about a 20-30 minute drive from Norrekoping, which we needed to drive through on our way west), hot tub/sauna to recover from the very long travel time, and good wifi. Well, it was more inconvenient to the nearest town than had seemed on Google maps and there weren't any dinner or drinks available at the hotel. When we did return to the hotel with food, all we'd wanted was to soak in the tub and sit in the sauna after all the travel. We were in the tub for all of ten minutes when we were told that the hotel spa wasn't available to guests because six tweens had reserved it and no one had let us know after we booked, even though this was a main reason for our visit. So, it's not, actually, a hot tub/sauna available to the hotel, even though it's mentioned when you check in and is repeatedly listed on their website; you can't really use it most of the time - and we weren't even there in high season! Very disappointing. More amazing to us was the attempt to charge us SEK 300 (~$36 USD) for using the hot tub when we checked out the next morning. Otherwise, there isn't much to do in the area, really - it's very secluded, surrounded by farms - so if you're looking to relax, but not in a hot tub, this is probably fine. Walks are okay but not amazing - grounds aren't really extensive, but there is a lake. WiFi signal is really good, though. Our room was nice - high ceilings, big windows, and a shared kitchenette down the hall (though none of the appliances worked). In summer it's very bright, so bring a sleep mask. The rooms are located in more modern outbuildings offset from the main house, all single story, with rooms arranged side-by-side down long hallways. I can see why this hotel is popular with wedding parties, the main house is very photogenic; lots of ornate crown molding, Persian rugs, and oil paintings of nobility. It's also very full of animal heads, including the top 8 feet of a stuffed giraffe, so if you have an aversion to hunting or taxidermy, it's probably better to give this hotel a pass.
Husby Castle, Söderköping - A wonderful surprise
What a fantastic surprise. A 1790 castle just outside Söderköping, Sweden. A caramel in the inner S:t Annna archipelago. We came by boat from Stockholm and experienced a fantastic tour of the castle with the owner Fredrik and his wife Irene. We learned everything about the late 1700 architecture, their wines, hunting, spa, restaurant and music events. Exhausted after 5 levels and 3000+ m2 of castle, we were invited in the cosy drawing room and a great glas of red wine. Indeed we hope more people can experience this pearl and take the extra minutes of travel in the beautifeul countryside south east of Söderköping.
One Night stop over
We found this lovely hotel on booking.com on our way through Sverige. Perfect service and very nice modern rooms. We will come back for a hunting trip. Auf unserer Schweden Rundreise waren wir hier für eine Nacht und haben alles sehr genossen. Super Service Super nettes Personal wir kommen sicher wieder
Lovely stop before visiting Stegeborgs Castle
We where on our way to visit Stegeborg Castle in St Anna parish and noticed the sign to Husby Säteri. We decided to drop by for a coffee and we where pleasantly surprised. This old castle (built in 1795) has a lot of original artifacts. Tea and Coffee was typically Swedish (don't expect an espresso/cappuccino machine) but the highlight of the day was the nice bakeries they offered. Most memorable was the atmosphere... The place had WIFI and a small boutique with handmade items and hunting gear. It seems this place offer guest the opportunity to stay in the castle and go hunting.
