Perfect for budget rravelers

Reviewed 5 december, 2022

The price/quality ratio of our room (6) is excellent. The place is well located in the city center, not far from any College and the main roads. Also, the owner is nice and friendly. Really a good solution for budget travelers who also don't disdain a comfortable, warm room.

Don’t be fooled this is not a hotel by any means it’s like student digs!! Shabby, dated and unclean room. Did not feel relaxed in room at all. Very noisy can hear people in other rooms. All the walls are marked and chipped. No wardrobe, just a hanging rail. Shower dirty and limescale everywhere. Thick cobwebs on curtain rail.

Avoid

Reviewed 21 october, 2022

So we went here in September, since then I have attempted both via booking.com and directly to contact them on numerous occasions to resolve my grievances, just to be ignored. We were travelling home from holiday when we unexpectedly had to divert our trip to Oxford due to a family emergency. We booked this hotel last minute going by the pictures and reviews on booking.com....they clearly bump up the ones they want you to see. We arrived, nobody there at reception, got to the room and the first thing of note was the smell. Which turned out to be coming from the bathroom. The entire place needs an extremely deep clean. There was no one there to speak to about it so we had no choice but to leave and try to find somewhere else for the night. Bathroom was dirty, furnishings where stained, bed was full of hairs, dust everywhere...the list goes on. I understand this is a budget option hotel but cleanliness is a basic of any hotel, regardless of price. Absolutely avoid, the pictures on the website and booking.com are not an accurate representation of what you will get and if you check the reviews on booking.com make sure to look at the most recent, not what they deem to be the most relevant. I made the unfortunate mistake of not checking thoroughly enough.

Disappointing to say the least.

£140 for a night. No parking on site, despite being listed under 'Key Offerings'. Clean bedsheets, but that's about it. Location is great, being right in the center, but it really didn't seem worth the money. We spent 1h 40min trying to find parking, and when we did, had to pay £25 for it. Granted it was a Saturday, but the fact the "hotel" were dishonest about the parking situation along with the state of the rooms, really made us adamant to never return.

For the Price

Reviewed 24 june, 2022

The Ali Inn is a good family-run hotel very conveniently located in Oxford. I chose the Ali Inn for its location and price. I was not disappointed. I did not expect Ritz accommodations for the price. The staff were friendly and brought my bags up to my room which was acceptably clean as was the shower. I did not experience the problems of outside noise, but maybe because I stayed on a Monday night on a bank holiday. The only minor problems were the steep stairs and the fact that no personnel were present as I exited the next day. I just dropped my room key into a bowl. That is not a great inconvenience. For the price, on a Monday night, this was a good buy.
