It started of so well but quickly went down hill. On arrival the property is split between two buildings and a helpful colleague came out to assist in the parking and show is our room, which on first glance looked very good. We were then advised that the restaurant is being painted so our evening meal would be across the road in their cafe but assured us that all will be in order. The room was large with a kitchenette which was useful but that is the only positive I can say about the room. The wet. room looked accessible but it was tired and a lot of floor tiles were cracked. Our main issue however was in the restaurant or should I say cafe, we booked the hotel after looking at the menu and lots of dishes including some lovely pasta dishes and a good wine list too. So we were really looking forward to our evening meal so you can imagine our surprise when we were handed the menu on one sheet of paper and all that was on offer was pizza and garlic bread, they did have salad on the menu but when I requested this was informed they didn't have any! We were tired and hungry and did not know the area so decided to stay they did not have any of the wine we saw on the menu either. Now the pizza was ok nothing special but it was not what we were expecting. The following morning after we had breakfast which again was ok but very bland I would assume supermarket produce, we went to check out and to voice our disappointment on the hotel and restaurant. We spoke to Juliana who informed us that they don't have another restaurant the cafe is the restaurant I have no idea why were informed the previous day that the main restaurant was closed. We explained our disappointment with the menu and was politely advised that this was yesterday's menu which changes daily no indication off this on the website, also yes salad was available! We were informed that this was all due to covid. and we should have contacted the hotel prior to our visit to see what was on the menu for that day, but then advised that her colleague could not have informed us on check in as they had not decided on the evening menu then it was all very confusing. Yes they did not charge us for the pizzas but as a £20_voucher came with room this would have covered the cost and they did not charge us for the couple of drinks we had. However I know it was Oxford but £138_a night was far to much for what they had to offer. A final point we were made to feel that we were in the wrong for expecting anything different and no actual apology was offered. I am still amazed and confused about the whole experience and definitely will not be returning.
Lovely staff, great breakfast, uncomfortable bed

Central, clean and basic, this hotel is a curate’s egg. Our room was clean and spacious, but on the ground floor ( so it felt as if night deliveries and early morning refuse lorries sounds were in the room) and the bed was averagely uncomfortable. But they were saved by an excellent breakfast in a warm bright room with nice helpful staff and bottomless good filter coffee.
Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Oxford.

It's always a lottery when you are looking for a hotel in a new place so to find the Ethos Hotel was hitting the jackpot. Great location, situated in a residential area so very quiet and just a 20 minute stroll into the centre of Oxford. We would recommend pre-booking your parking based on limited spaces. The interaction and attention from all staff before and during our one night stay was excellent; nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks go to Julianna and Aaron who never stop in providing wonderful customer service. Even Rupuik, who was on his first day, went the extra mile even though he was finding his feet. The food; breakfast and their stone baked pizzas were delicious. The room was clean, well laid out and fit for purpose. The hotel provides very good value for money once you review what you are getting so we will be recommending to others to stay there if they are going to Oxford.

Lovely little hotel

This is a lovely place to stay if you want a quiet hotel that is within an easy walking distance of the city centre. It is located on in a quaint studenty street where there is little traffic. The rooms (and bed) are comfortable and well equipped, I liked the fact that there were the facilities to heat up a meal if you wished (corkscrew included!). The cafe menu is limited but anywhere that can manage both an excellent Full English and hand made pizzas is fine by me. The place is very relaxed, for example check in and out times were flexible, and Julianna could not have been more helpful. If you want somewhere that has lots of parking, extensive food choices and 24 room service this is not for you, otherwise it's highly recommended.
