Family holiday
My husband and 3 children stayed here as my brother was getting married. Most of my family stayed at Athena Beach but we chose to stay here as thought it would be better for the children. There was lots to do for the children and they had a good time. My eldest particularly liked the climbing wall. Food was average very repetitive. Apartments were very spacious and clean. However our air conditioning didn’t work, it was reported and was attempted to be fixed but they wasn’t successful and unfortunately there wasn’t another room for us to move into. So we had to deal with no air con. Worse part of the holiday was the evening after my brothers wedding we were watching the entertainment and an English man I assume part of the management tapped me on the shoulder and asked me where my all inclusive wristband was my husband and children were all wearing theirs but I had removed mine as I was a bridesmaid for my brothers wedding and didn’t want it on their photos. I explained this to the gentleman and my plan was to go to the reception the next day to replace it. However I was told I needed to go to reception immediately to confirm my name and room number. This was very embarrassing, I was escorted from the entertainment area with everybody looking at me to have my wristband replaced. I understand that people may go into the hotel and try and take advantage of the All inclusive but this could have been handled a lot better. For this reason I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.
Great place for a family break
We’ve had a great time at the Aliathon, despite everything that Corona virus has thrown at them, the staff have been fantastic. The facilities are great especially for families. The food is ok, but not great. There’s lots of fresh food which is great, the allergies are well labelled but the cooked food isn’t amazing. Just my opinion. Well worth a visit for a late October break, the weather has been stunning. Do check out the Halloween cocktail at the bar which was excellent.
Great visit, not perfect but great
We went as a family of four at the start of October. Our stay was great, the hotel was mostly empty so we had the kids pool and main pool pretty much to ourselves a lot of the time. COVID - the hotel was great. Clean, temperature checks, masks and gloves before going in to the buffet, social distancing reminders every where. Brilliant. Hotel - spacious, good bar, all inclusive choice of drinks quite limited compared to other places but that's a minor concern. Only issue was the food - dinner is dreadful. Food quality poor and choices for kids non existent. We didn't go hungry but don't think we particularly enjoyed any evening meal. Lunches were good when we could order from the a la carte (to start with there weren't enough guests to do a buffet) but again once it got busier and the buffet opened it was poor. Some awful family arrived from Manchester and tried their best to ruin everyone's week but only made themselves look disgusting to everyone else, so I wish them all best ;) Weather was PERFECT, hot but not too much. Main pool has a huge shallow area so is amazing for kids and the kids pool itself is circular so easy to keep an eye on them whilst giving them some independence. All in all a great stay, we would definitely be return.
Last minute October escape
Accommodation - Having a large family we tend to stay in Villas because it can be difficult to accommodate us all comfortably. There was no need to worry here, the 2 bed suite was ideal. Plenty of space and 2 bathrooms & TV areas. It was spotless and cleaned every day, new beach towels delivered to the room. I would say without question this is above the standard I’ve seen over the years for ‘family resorts’ Food - I really enjoyed the food, I don’t go to a holiday village and expect chef Ramsey. I live on salads so it was heaven for me, loads of choice. I even ate pork (3times) and lamb - I wouldn’t touch this back home, but they were cooked to perfection. The Italian and Greek restaurants were great, I thoroughly enjoyed the food. Reading other reviews I feel like a cheap date but I’m super fussy in terms of quality but very open minded to new things. I didn’t touch the deserts, not my thing but my kids ate enough to tell me they were good. If I had one complaint & it may have been available but I wasn’t aware, was food during the day. The snack bars weren’t open because it was at 10% capacity and sometimes my kids like a snack, although I have to say after the 3 meals I don’t think they needed it on this occasion. Amenities - We sat at the kids pool all day every day. I’m so paranoid about pool safety so having a pool that was only 1ft deep at its max with slides and water fun was great, mind at ease. The kids ran and played there all day without getting bored. The kids club was great too, so many activities and although my kids were on many occasions the only children in, the girls & guys were great! Getting dressed up for each session. It was delightful and cool in the kids club, great to escape the heat. The kids brought home more artwork than the case could handle. My children loved it, I always felt they were safe and secure in there. The team were very professional. There were loads of activities in throughout the day, I tried out the high ropes.... the Paiges and Syd were fantastic when I had a panic attack halfway through (the shame). It was so quiet at the hotel so unfortunately we weren’t seeing it at its best, there weren’t enough people to ‘compete’. Entertainment - My kids enjoyed it, the guys have only been out there for a month or so but they gave it everything. Some real talents. Again it’s meant for kids so don’t go expecting the cabaret from a Royal Caribbean cruise but it’s great all the same. COVID-19 - I’m putting it in as a topic because sadly it dominates our lives just now. The test for getting out is very straightforward, don’t fret, just book and order the tests through Randox and follow the guidance. The hotel has made every provision for cleaning, it is very safe, wearing masks and gloves temp check sanitising. Overall a great holiday, I’ll be back to Cyprus and very likely Aliathon Resort. Like many others we met, we looked into extending our break..... that speaks for itself.
Travelling through Covid
Just got back from a stay here through covid restrictions, the hotel have handled it amazingly, very clean and strict in terms of wearing mask & gloves. The childrens pool is fantastic as is the main pool as its very shallow so it's easy for the kids to paddle. We paid extra for a swim up room, but we were not able to use the pool as it was ice cold which was a shame. Now, the food - the breakfast & lunch were fine, evening meals at the buffet - pretty dreadful, extremely poor and repetitive options for children. Meals often cold and bland. The Greek restaurant is lovely - portion sizes huge!! Reps were great, done so much and since it was so quiet they still went above and beyond - at one point there was only us and one other family there and they still done full entertainment. Ben was brilliant, always so happy! My daughter had her birthday while there and they provided an amazing chocolate cake for her. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much. Alex on the bar - he knew exactly what we wanted before we even got there - he is a super star!! One main issue we had- and this is no fault of the hotel, but it was another family. They turned up half way through the stay and they were pretty vile, the mother was abusive to another family that we witnessed twice, all because her children were poorly behaved & unruly. The reason I mention this, is because the hotel could see that the children were miss behaving at MANY times, going in pools they shouldn't be, going up slides the wrong way and the parents were just ignoring their children. At one point, their (at a guess) 3 year old son, was in the pool all on his own - no parent in site. Many other families were discussing how rude and vile this family was, and it really changed the dynamic of the holiday - I feel that the hotel should really have stepped in here and done more to ensure that the parents were not being abusive and that they were actually looking after their children. It was clear for all to see as it was happening in the evenings too - it was only their children ignorning the 'do not pass flags' etc etc Such a shame as this can really effect other peoples holidays. I would come back here for sure, the staff really made it amazing and I put the poor evening meals down to it being so quiet and I assume it was restricted meals on offer. I am sure in normal terms it would have been great.
