More about the hotel
Budget - do not expect much
First, this was a budget hotel reserved by Avventure nel Mondo, a low cost "explore the world" travel agency in Italy. So the philosophy is: spend as less as possible to visit faraway countries. And Philippines was our family vacation for winter 2020. I give a mark of 3 to the hotel taking into consideration the context, it would be a 2 or less in a more western context, even considered the low cost. Pros: is in the center of El Nido, rooms are large, air condition works. Cons: cleaning is poor (my daughter found a biiiig bug in her clothes), the toilets of all the rooms at ground floor got stuck one full day (gross...), no WI FI, weak English speaking workers, creepy furniture. Breakfast may be served in the close by El Nido Cafè. Overall, a bed to sleep and a shower, you can't ask for much more. Stay in the room as less as possible and run to the beaches and island, which are amazing.
Any Management Here-Somewhat Dysfunctional
We rode around El Nido looking for three rooms for a couple of nights-something that was hard to find. A place ideally where we could leave our motorbikes. The owner had a property across the road so we decided to stay here. They had a renovation going on that seemed to be room by room. Wasn't much noise and anyway, you don't go to El Nido to stay in your room all day. I'm sure if it was cheap because of this but we only paid PHP1000 a night which for the location was very cheap. It was really hard to get any sense out of the front desk. The English was almost non existent and it made the stay quite frustrating. We got the sense that the staff didn't really care. I couldn't get the TV to work and the shower kept going from hot to cold.
Cheap but not that bad
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Positive: well located, very quiet ( we were the only clients) cheap, spacious room, clean room, working A/C. Negative: the pillows are not to be called pillows ( it’s a block of compact foam) and that the only thing that really annoyed us... we paid cheap so we got what we paid for. However, some other negative points that didn’t really matter to us: bathroom is not sparkly clean, they didn’t clean or do the room once or empty the trash bin ( hence a massive cockroach when we checked out), US power socket only, no internet, no credit card payment available.
This is NOT a two star hotel
We had to stay here last minute due to an issue with our existing hotel booking and this was one of the few places in El Nido with availability. This is NOT a two star hotel, it's closer to a very poor hostel. The rooms are incredibly basic with single sheets on the bed and the pillows are made of some kind of hard foam. Although clean when we arrived, the rooms are incredibly run down. We had to ask for our room to be cleaned and to have fresh towels as this was not done daily. The toilet leaked water all over the bathroom floor, the shower was a trickle of tepid water and the sink also leaked. The shower curtain was slightly moldy and the bathroom was always covered in water. I have seen from other reviews that breakfast was included in the price - we were told not this. That being said, it's incredibly cheap and in a good location.
Are you kidding me?
I did not have any high expectations, but after three nights at this hotel, I left shocked and for sure I will never come back again. The hotel claims to have a wifi- well, there is a device resembling a wifi router on the reception... Its signal is only reachable down on the reception, but that doesnt help much, as the internet speed is always close to zero or zero. Our room was dirty and it was never cleaned during our stay. Nor were the towels changed... the air-conditioning was old, dirty and very, very loud- made the sleeping impossible. Half of the sockets were not working and were black-smoked. We experienced a loud explosion of one of them during our stay, which could have had fatal consequence as the socket touched the bed sheets... Water in the bathroom was barely dripping, and the heater worked-lets say- very unpredictably. The room price includes the breakfast... Well, do not rely on that and rather buy regular breakfast elsewhere. Continental breakfast ment one slice of sandwich, small portion of melted butter, one egg and a piece of pineaple.... no juice. My impression of this "hotel" is, that it has no owner. It looks like noone cares here... Definitely a place to be avoided.
