When we arrived at the hostel nobody opened for us and we spoke with (no idea who?!) through the intercom and he told us he knew nothing. When we were already looking for another hostel a woman came speeding towards us and opened the door. The name of this place is a bit deceiving because it is not for “youth”. We shared the room with “old” people and it was more like a old appartment where somebody put some beds. Everything was kind of messy and dirty and it stank. Also the pictures on booking.com are super deceiving. It was not at allll like that. Beds were absolutely horrible, so were the pillows. The breakfast was nice though. All in all, we just stayed there for 1 night because it was already pretty late and we were super tired but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The next day we looked for another hostel.
I felt uncomfortable here
I also felt uncomfortable as a woman in this hostel, as only in this hostel the male staff kept walking into the woman's room for no reason. In other hostels the staff give you everything at reception. In this hostel the male staff walked each new woman into the female dorm and stayed for 10 minutes (while other women were in bed). There is no need for the men to walk into the women's room so often!
Women should be careful with this place!
Without a doubt, the hostel is a very sociable place, well located and cheap but as a WOMAN YOU SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL with the owner Salvo! Everything starts with the offer from Salvo to show you the area on his motorcycle. When you agree he will try to give you a massage, touch you, make inappropriate comments and he doesn't stop with it eventhough you tell him to stop it multiple times. He also took a lot of pictures of me although I told him I don't want it. He took pictures of me in a bikini and sent them around without my permission. I'm not the only one who went through this, it happened to almost every single girl staying at the hostel. I can't understand why I am the first one who writes about it, because it seems to happen on a daily basis. I never had to write something like this before, but I can't be quiet about this one!
Perfect for the "just what you need" travelers
In the center of Palermo so close to everything. A very friendly and helpful staff. You'll be able to keep it cheap while staying here. Not the best place if you have trouble sleeping in noisy surroundings but that's the way it is in all city centers.
A lovely home away from home!!
i holidayed in Sicily for 2 weeks staying in 7 different hostels/B&B and this was the only hostel from whom i received a personalized email 2 days before my arrival asking me to confirm my arrival time and detailing me of how i can reach hostel from airport or train station or bus stop. Best host and staff i ever met. very welcoming, cordial, helpful and friendly. Only breakfast was included in the stay but they cooked dinner as well for the guest. Made themselves personally available for pickup or drop off in case any guest felt difficulty with route or transport.Very knowledgeable about the city as they are locals and speaks reasonably good English. Great location of the property, just in the city center. local food market, vucciria, is in the neighbourhood. well organised property.....neat and clean...quite home like. Made many friends in host, staff and fellow travelers. Staying there was absolute delight and pleasure.Highly recommended!!
