A co-worker from Mexico had his heart set on going to the buffet and the Wynn, since he had heard such rave reviews and that type offering is not to be had in Mexico. So our schedule let us go on Wednesday, which meant when we got there, it was closed. Shucks. So we went back the next day. Big mistake. We were there almost as it opened for the evening. You can translate that to mean if what you choose was offered the previous Tuesday, congratulations, you were getting the leftovers on Thursday. My crew hit the crab legs. I tried a couple, along with the oysters and some mussels. It was obvious the crab had served some time in the cooler as had the oysters ( and I do know oysters ). Safe to eat, well, nobody got sick, but after all the anticipation, it was a let down. In fairness, they kept the buffet replenished and the later items were obviously freshly prepared. After the seafood, my guys tried the brisket since they cook that a lot themselves.....again, this was recycled and not very tasty. Then they tried the roast. The server did not ask how rare a cut they wanted, he just sliced off a large portion of what should have been great beef. And the result was a big piece of raw meat. Inedible unless you like beef chewing gum. So, bum out factor number two. At this point, it decided enough was enough. So we left disappointed. The place was totally packed, so if crowds are a turn off, then by all means, go elsewhere.

We had our Board Retreat at The Wynn. It could not have been more perfect. From rooms, to food reservations, to meeting room facilities, everything was perfect. They even helped us arrange our transportation. Board can't wait to go back.

Pros: 1. Check in was fast with no wait at all. I promptly got an early check in with no wait. 2. All the employees were pleasant and helpful. They were aiming to please guests. 3. My room on an upper floor faced the golf course and was very quiet. 4. The room was well appointed, very clean, and with good amenities. 5. I had a group rate including WiFi and resort fees waived, making the room rate very competitive. 6. Food choices were good, with some not requiring a reservation and with good prices for the portion received. Food service areas were very clean. 7. The pool area was very clean and well maintained. Staff there were all providing good service. There are some shaded areas, and I was able to find with some effort a partially shaded spot every day, but some umbrellas would be good to have. Guests at the pools were respectful of others. Cons: 1. The ventilation does not completely remove the cigarette smell from the casino, and you have to go through it or around it to get anywhere. 2. A panini at the cafe had bread as tough as leather. 3. Upon checkout I had one excess charge, but the employee at the desk quickly recognized the error and fixed it, but this should not have happened, requiring ongoing vigilance by guests. Be sure and look at your itemized bill. 4. Overpriced cabanas aren't worth it because of constant foot traffic in front of them and distance from service. 5. More shaded areas are needed by the pools. 6. Proper mask wearing: 99% compliance by hotel employees and 95% by guests. Sounds good, but it's not, because the level of safety is set by the least compliant people.

This used to be the classiest joint on The Strip. Now it’s a filthy, run down shell of its former greatest. When I checked in on Thurs., there was a used face mask hanging over the side of the trash can in the 28th floor elevator lobby. Still there two days later. If you play slots, be prepared for the empty glasses and full ashtrays at every machine. No one is cleaning this place. Some food is still good - but don’t expect fresh fruit, or bagels, or even bread to toast at the $70 breakfast buffet. It’s just sad that this once classy oasis in Las Vegas is another “must miss” - unless you’re desperate to gamble with only other people willing to play at very high stakes for very low service.

After visiting Las Vegas 2-3 times a year for last 10 years, we found the place we would like to stay more and more. Do not take me wrong, where are many wonderful places to stay at Vegas and Wynn is not cheap, but we fill like we want to stay there more and more. We fill very comfortable and relaxed there. Everything is very good, including rooms, restaurants, service, casino, shops, etc. The only one thing I cannot understand, why I had to reconnect my iPad to wi-fi every time I close it, but my iPhone stayed connected? It's not a big deal, just technical observation.
