Pousada Eclipse

This establishment did everything it could to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. They provided frequent transport to the city centre on the hour and even gave us 2 impromptu rides to the city outside the scheduled times. The perks also included microwave use and pool access outside of the official times. The rooms were clean with adequate storage space and hooks etc. The English speaking lady (we think her name is Tais) was extremely helpful and gave us fantastic restaurant recommendations. All round fantastic stay.

This pousada is a bag of mixed nuts to me. The rooms, the hotel itself and the pool are all nice. However, the breakfast is horrible. Two out of three days there were no eggs, leaving cake as the only option. I know cake is popular among a lot of people for breakfast, but as I have no intention on buying two airplane seats for myself in the future, and not having other options was scandalous. Also beware of the location, it is around 20 minutes walk to the city centre, and the area around the hotel is not nice at all. Finally, we have the staff. They seemed friendly, and one of them recommended us to go on a nice boat trip. We decided to go the next day, but the boat we were advertised apparently did not run this day. Okay, fair enough, so she had this voucher for another boat called "Banzay" which she recommended. At the pier, we noticed that our boat was full already, with a lot of people in line (tourists) with the same hotel voucher as ourselves. We went on, but could actually not find a place to sit, and they were still letting people on! We therefore went straight off again, and found another, much cheaper boat which was less that half as crowded. And when we sailed out of the port, we saw that the boat that apparently did not run on this day, was running just right next to us. I feel the staff tried to rip us off, and the next day the staff asked about our voucher from the Banzay boat, seemingly disappointed that we did not go on it. I don't know if she missed her bonus per voucher sold, but she was not friendly to us from that point. The pousada is a hit or miss. If you have a car and want a clean and nice place, and love your cake, then this is your place. If not, stay away and choose something else. There are plenty of pousadas close to the centre that offer better prices for the same amenities.

Great clean pousada, good price. Friendly staff, awesome breakfast with juices, paozinho, wheat bread, fruit, cheeses, bolos, scrambled eggs. It also has safety cameras, great pool, WiFi, beautiful flowers and plants give the Posada a romantic and calm atmosphere.

This place is very lovely and calm: rooms are cosy and big, staff is helpful and kind. And you have a good wifi there. We really enjoyed the swimming pull : warm water! But the best thing here is breakfast: eggs, juices, cakes, breads, fruits... Delicious! The only one negative point is that the pousada is a bit far from the old center: about 20 minutes of walk.

If you are lucky enough to travel to Brazil and stop in Paraty on your way to Rio, I'd strongly recommend you stayed a couple of nights (or longer) at the Pousada Eclipse. The pousada is very clean, the staff is extremely pleasant and helpful and breakfast is a delight. It is not at the heart of "the centre" but a bit of walking (about 10mins) will not hurt. You might actually crave for it after all the yummy food you would have eaten at breakfast. Paraty itself, is a beautiful place to unwind in, so sit back at the marina in the evening and enjoy!
