Albe Hotel Saint Michel

Pros - Central location in the 5th near St. Michel Fountain (2 stops from Gare du Nord/Eurostar by RER), Notre Dame, Sorbonne, St. Chapelle, lots of cafes and about 10-15 min walking to St. Germain area - Beautiful views from upper corner rooms (Rm 535/Triple Deluxe) - Proper single bed for third person (vs a sofabed) - hard to find - Powerful well functioning air-conditioner - While the rooms and bathroom was dated/tired looking, a bit dusty smell in the room, but the towels smelled freshly washed recently - Genuinely pleasant, helpful staff, very responsive to emails Cons - Price - a bit steep for a 3 star hotel at about £185/night for a Triple Deluxe - Room & bathroom quality - tired looking carpet, chips around light fixtures in the ceiling, bathroom - some rust stains on the radiator (Note: some of the rooms had more modern renovated bathrooms - but the ones with the views didn't seem to have those) - For those wanting to use the elevator - make sure the elevator is working. Due to current situation - they only allowed one person per elevator (but good workout - climbing up the stairs for those who want a workout)

First of all, thanks to Veronique, Max, Lilienne and Caterina and all the workers in cleaning services. The hotel is perfect and my wife wants to go back to Paris and in this hotel! Comfortable rooms, really clean, the personnel is really professional and kind ; everything we needed they helped us, I had a problem in a restaurant and Veronique helped me to have a refund. Nothing to say... Simply, thanks, we hope to see you soon! P. S. In the room we seemed to live like in a faboulus neverending dream and the position is really romantic, near the heart of Paris and in a real live block of the city. Thanks to all of you, you've been essential for us to enjoy a great vacation! My 40eenth birthday has been happy thanks to my wife above all, but also thanks to you! We wish you all the best that life can give!

Very hot room but the hotel would switch on the aircon. Three nights with a poor sleep left me very frustrated with the hotel and ruined my holiday. They staff moved us to another room (smaller and two floors up) but refused to put on the AC, even though they advertise it as a feature in every room.

Take the RER B for 11? Euro, to the Pont Saint Michel stop, and walk 300 feet around the corner to the hotel. Simple. Google Street view it. We checked out bags and I asked where to get a coffee. The manager brought us an espresso and cuppuchino - wow - thank you, after an overnight flight. Our room, 641, had 2 sets of windows, which allowed a cross breeze - very nice. It's the top floor with a view of the intersection and Seine, and the towers of Notre Dame over the next buildings roof. The toilet was a separate room (in our room) from the tub/shower and sink room - very convenient. While the space was smaller than USA standards, it was very nicely laid out, and did not feel small at all. You walk in, door to toilet on right, corridor with safe, linens, baggage stand on the right, into the bedroom with desk, tv, and door to the sink/bathing room. The space was very clean and bright, with it's own heat controls. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Being centrally located you can walk, taxi or subway easilly. We walked to many tourist spots (arc de triomphe, louvre, st. sulpice, pantheon, etc.). [Do get the Paris pass , with a later in the day start. Sort of makes a 4 day pass into 5 days (you're in someplace while it expires). Great deal, with many skip the line situations.] The train from the hotel to Versaille was 11 Euro rount trip, with no hassles. Time your arrival to miss the peak arrival times, and you'll be pleased. We had the breakfast the first day, and the choices were more than I needed - machine for good espresso/capuchino/hot chocolate/tea, scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants, chocolate croissants, baguette sections, sliced meats, orange/apple juice, whole fresh fruits, boiled eggs, breads, cereals, cheeses, ...felt like a market, and I rather pigged out. [if you're a light eater, the patisserie attached to the hotel is good and piece meal will cost less, and you can eat outside under the awnings, or stroll for crepes made to order] We stayed 7 nights, and felt like we'd moved to a quaint village. The hotel is next to a neat 7 story bookstore, and near to Shakespeare and Co. There are multiple nice French, Thai, Indian, Greek, Swiss, Irish, British restaurants, tourist shops, ATM, quite close. Prices are better than the island, or other side of the river and we had great meals. Other guests were British, Asian, American, ... Long story - we loved it, and will try to book again, on our next visit.

The staff is top notch, friendly and more than accommodating. The location was perfect with easy access to the RER from CDG, with a lift around the corner so you don’t have to carry luggage on the train station stairs. Metro convenient for getting anywhere in the city. We explored during the day and made our way back to the hotel for dinner in the neighborhood at night. It was a mom/daughter trip for my 15 yo and we felt very safe. There are many restaurants and creperies in the immediate area. The room was fitting for our trip- clean, comfortable beds and good shower. The towel warmer gurgled loudly even though it was off and made it hard for me to sleep the second night but my daughter slept through it. All-Over Shampoo was provided but not conditioner so bring your own if you are picky about hair products.
