Wonderful place to stay.

We were in and out of Paris for about two weeks. This was our hub. This was a wonderful, friendly, clean hotel. The staff could not have more helpful. The hotel is convenient to metro, restaurants, and tour pick ups. Breakfast was traditional French with great coffee. I’m looking forward to my next trip to Paris and will stay there again.

Very nice and clean hotel in a great location

Great location and very clean bit careful with the stairs at the entrance since de lobby its in the first floor. Very narrow stair a little bit difficult to go upstairs, only with small luggage. The door entrance in the street is very small so it is a little bit difficult to find it at night. The room and the bathroom are small but very clean. The shower space is very, very small. The floor hygienic because it is not a carpet. I had a very nice view of the tour Eiffel from the sixth floor. It is a nice hotel to come back. Very good option im this neighborhood.

Thanks to this nice little hotel in the 14th arrondissement of Paris we spent some wonderful days in the French capital. The staff is polite and helpful, the rooms are not over- nor undersized, enough space to spend a rainy day in the hotel with very comfortable beds. At least our two rooms had spectacular views over the place Denfert-Rochereau with its feisty traffic. Surprisingly, you don't hear much of it at night which lets you sleep very well. The location itself is perfect to start your day in Paris with the metro station directly in front of the hotel from where you can get almost everywhere. Next time 14ieme we will definitely chose this hotel again.

A well located gem in Montparnasse

We just completed a ten day stay at Hotel du Lion. It was the perfect and economical base of operations for our trip. Friendly staff, a Continental breakfast, payable as you use it rather than all-or-nothing, which is perfect for Americans who like their refillable coffee and French breads (the coffee alone makes it cheaper than area restaurants, although if you like your eggs you can seek those out elsewhere). Prompt wake up calls. Clean room larger than I expected. Located almost literally next to Denfert-Rochereau train and metro stations. Great area shopping and social life. Reliable WI-FI. And a bathtub! (But more about this in a minute). There is one main reason I wouldn’t give it five stars for all visitors - the very high front staircase from ground to main floor is inaccessible for anyone who is mobility impaired, and daunting for we old folks with knee and hip issues. My suitcase made it up on day one through the assistance of a burly fellow traveler checking in at the same time. I will say that after ten days of walking up and down Metro stairs in Paris, the stairs at Hotel du Lion were a piece of cake! The bathtub is very narrow, even for average sized people, and was impossible to get up out of- it needs a grab bar. So, I only had one bath. And even for showering is harder to turn around in, and is high off the ground for getting out of the shower, another situation for which a bar would be useful. Finally, the cable television package did not contain any English language stations (we know they exist from earlier visits). A minor quibble- we didn’t come to Paris to watch TV but would have been nice before retiring for the day. All in all, we loved staying here. I wish half stars were possible- overall four-and-a-half for us.

Great experience! Highly recommend.

I stayed at Hotel du Lion in Paris for almost a week and loved every minute of it. The facilities are excellent, very clean and modern, supplying for all your needs. The staff will go the extra mile to help in any extra way they can. I found a laundry room to iron my clothes, there was hot water for coffee and tea around the clock, and a great view from my window in the intersection of Denfert-Rochereau. The room was surprisingly quiet at night, and very well heated. I loved that I could open my windows for fresh air. But the main highlight was the staff. They were absolutely amazing, from the owner, Mr. Nicolas, who is the sweetest man with the most contagious smile, to the director at reception, also Nicolas, who is this dashing, handsome Johnny Depp-look alike, and who is also the friendliest and most helpful with advice or touristic tips, to the ladies who staff the reception desk at night, also amazing. The man who runs this business knows that the human touch is the thing that will make a good hotel experience amazing, so thank you so much to all the people at Hotel du Lion who added so much to my Paris experience by just being there with their generous smiles and good hearts. And I'm sure it's not just a European thing. There is something special about Hotel du Lion. Go there and see for yourself, and say hi to Mr. Nicolas and Johnny Depp-Nicolas for me :)
