Shadiest Management I’ve Ever Witnessed - Not a Safe Place - DO NOT STAY HERE
A couple weeks ago I booked 2 hotel rooms on Booking.com for my family and I for the Labour Day long weekend. The hotel was advertised as a 3 star hotel on the website. Google says 2 stars which is still laughable, I would struggle to call this a motel. The photos looked promising and for just the one night it looked adequate enough. The price after tax was $214.70 for both rooms. There was no formal reception area when we arrived, just a waitress (who I later found out was the food and beverage manager, Angela Deciccio) in a closet with a desk. The entire building was filthy and run down. We didn’t stay for longer than 10 minutes. The rooms had not been properly cleaned since the previous occupants. The sheets were stained and dirty, the bathrooms were disgusting, most lights didn’t work, the AC didn’t work, and the screen door to my room was ripped off and held together with strips of packing tape. My parents’ room was worse than mine, even the chairs were filthy, and their tub was so visibly dirty you could see the anti slip pads that the previous occupant used for what appears to be weeks based on the accumulation of dead skin and dirt. I went back to Angela to ask for a refund and she told me there’s nothing she can do without her boss. I asked her for his information and she went to deliberate with other staff, including a man who was identified the next day as Stanley Gan, the manager. I did not hear the conversation but she comes back and gives me a business card to submit my grievance. Not knowing better, I took it and left. The card was her own, she just didn’t want to help me. To add insult to injury, she called me a b**** as soon as I turned my back. As we were clearing out, Stanley was walking in and out of a room next to my parents. There are doors adjoining all the rooms that can be locked, but it is not sound proof so you can hear every word the person in the next room is saying. I’m assuming he was listening to what we were up to. I went back the next morning after staying in another hotel and Stanley refused to see me. I contacted my bank, and I have also contacted Booking.com where I reserved the room from. I will be reporting to a few ministries and bureaus, as well as the Town of Parry Sound. DO NOT STAY HERE, IT IS NOT SAFE.
Run away as quick as you can
We have booked a room in this hotel during recent trip in Canada. When arriving there, it was impossible to find a reception or any hotel employee. This is a very old hotel, dirty and with bad smell. The emergency exits are open and anyone can enter there and make awalk trough both floors. Finally, we decided to go to another hotel. Surprisingly, booking is refusing to publish rating
Awesome food. Reasonable prices.
We were drawn in by the newly renovated decor. It had a restaurant feel with a good looking bar. We sat outdoors on the patio which was adjacent to the motel, the view of which was the only negative of our visit. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the natchos and the Greek salad with chicken. Both are awesome. The natchos however were the best we’ve ever had anywhere. Don’t know why this place was not recommended by the locals. I wonder if the location at night has a different vibe but for sure this was a great place for dinner. We give it 41/2 out of five.
Quiet, not too clean,not accessible
We booked here because it used ti be O.K. BUT, our room was only surface clean, we found garbage under the bed, and the public spaces were disgustiing - found used floss-sticks in the hallway. The place is inaccessible. Steps to the main entrance, No disabled parking near the street, limited parking up the hill at the back of the property. Only access to the hotel is down a long flight of stairs. Breakfast was old-fashioned but a good price and nicely cooked.
Worst stay ever, friendly staff
Do not stay here! We booked last minute and it was the only thing left in town. Just saying- camping is much cleaner. Check in at the bar with the bartender. The bartenders are very friendly but it’s an odd setup. The good: - bed was surprisingly comfortable with decent bedding - tv and portable air conditioner worked - friendly staff who look like they are working 4 different positions at once The bad: - headboard had smudges all over - bathroom floor had black mold around tub and toilet - bathroom ceiling had visible water damage - under heater on wall has never been cleaned. We found dust, dog food and other things - the drawers had marijuana crumbs throughout - patio door did not secure unless you used a stick - walls had stains all over that could use a wipe - room smelled musty - after check out we were charged on the wrong credit card. Bartender was busy so we just sorted it out amongst our group - general upkeep of grounds was non existent - major renovation needed - bath water came out yellow at first / tap for tub didn’t stop dripping for our entire stay - pillows were horrible and had stains on the case - staff said dogs were not allowed but we saw dogs in rooms and found dog food under things in our room I’m not usually one to complain but I was not impressed. At $140/ night I was expecting at least the place to be clean I didn’t take my shoes off until I got into bed. Do not recommend and I will not be staying again.
