Great place, authentic experience

We loved this place. You need a car to get around but this place is for people who like to get out and explore. House was great, pool was great, gated development, close to great beaches, golf courses and plenty of attractions for the kids.
Quite unbelievable that the previous review only gave this place 2 stars. Definitely a review to ignore!!

Jardins de Pera complex is a Private closed Condominium of 25 private villas. Owners are in attendance throughout the year. A few owners rent out to paying guests and are unsupervised. Rental guests are reminded to keep the complex tidy, and obey the rules of the Condominium, which are clearly marked on two notice boards within the complex. All damage is reported and must be paid for. We have a strict policy where no ball games and must be adhered too. Our Condominium Management are on hand to report any breaches of rules and rowdy behaviour to the owners who rent their properties to paying guests. A Licence for Renting these properties must be in place by law at Silves Council. Paying rental guests are advised before booking to check that this licence is valid for the property they intend booking for their holiday. It is illegal in Portugal to rent a private property without a valid licence. Also worth noting, the Licence only allows 4 guests per property. Any breach of this law is immediately reported to our Condominium Management Company, and steps are taken to immediately remove offenders from the complex. A car is necessary if staying at Jardins de Pera, as it is approximately four miles from the rearest resort and beach. The complex is located on the busy EN125 road that runs the length of the Algarve from east to west. A bus service passes by but is very unreliable. Pera village is a traditional Algarvian village, with very limited shops and cafes. It is not a holiday resort. Hope this information helps with your decision to book your next holiday at this private complex.
Privately owned property in Pera

I am the owner of Property P at Jardins de Pera and while we don't currently rent our property out (many of the owners do not) I thought it worth adding a few comments. These are privately owned properties and the management of the complex is outsourced to a management company to ensure that maintenance is completed to a high standard and the pools kept in perfect condition. Each property, being privately owned, is equipped by the owner and so each will be different. Each owner also completes their own maintenance so there are likely to be differences between each property. Where owners do let their property the arrangements for keys etc. differ. A few owners use a management company based in Vale Parra to look after the property for them, including advertising, letting, cleaning etc. and that is why the keys are collected from there. Those arrangements do not apply to all properties, please check with the owner or whoever you are renting through. When we were renting our property our management company provided a meet and greet service to let you in to the property and show you around, some owners still do this. As I said, not all arrangements are equal, check first.

Great accommodation....although as mentioned previously a car is essential. Arrived quite late and difficult to find despite having sat nav. The accommodation is of a great standard and added bonus of a large bbq area that we used regularly. A great place for a relaxing holiday and the Portugese people are friendly and obliging. The nearest shopping mall is less than 10 mins away has an excellent supermarket where fresh produce is in abundance daily. The local village has a morning indoor market where fresh produce can be bought without having to go anywhere in the car. There is also a little supermarket in walking distance and the staff are very friendly.
During our stay only about half of the other properties were occupied at any one time and we were often the only residents using the pool. I would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing time with beaches only a short distance away in the car. The local village has a few bars and Albufeira is a 15 euro taxi ride away. Be warned the public transport provision is very poor! Either very late or doesn't turn up at all.
Collecting and returning the keys to another place 3 miles away is rather inconvenient and for this reason I would not visit again.
