More about the hotel
Looks can be deceiving
We booked a weekend after driving by on an earlier visit, seeing what looked like a southern antebellum mansion decorated with sparkling lights in winter, and the online photos looked impressive. What we got was something else. When we arrived, although the check-in was efficient and pleasant, we were informed that the hotel may not have enough parking for all guests and if we could not find a spot we would have to park across the 5-lane street. Thankfully we wedged in with about 2" to spare on either side. Positives: Beds were clean and comfortable. Water was hot. Heating worked fine. Room felt safe. We had a place to stay for valentine's weekend. The rest: Once we got to the room, it was decorated as shown in the photos, but was so dimly lit it was creepy. The bulbs were anemic and the shades and light covers were yellow and dingy. Then we looked in the bathroom. Ugh. The makeup mirror was rusted and coated with grime, to the point where I took a tissue and scraped it off (it was not just light dust). The fixtures were cruddy, the caulking was yellowed and stained. The carpets were maybe vacuumed, but clearly the machine was not up to the task based on the small crumbs still around. Found someone else's acrylic fingernail laying on the floor next to the bed. The bedside light was also dirty and dusty. The shower had a nice multi-function shower head, but the water pressure was so low none of the functions actually worked.
Great Stay
We stayed here for 3 nights this past weekend. I was extremely impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. It's not a five star hotel, but it is a solid 3 and a great budget friendly option when staying in petoskey. They had free limo rides- which we used for my husband's birthday dinner- and we were able to bring our fur baby. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to petoskey. I would recommend paying a little more for a deluxe room or room with a view.
It was available
Staff was friendly and this was our first time in a hotel since covid. And it was a decent clean room and served it’s purpose. But the price of 157 a night even post covid seemed a lot. However supply and demand allows them to do it. The facility seemed barely ADA compliant. Lots of stairs everywhere, very small bathroom door and shower. The location to town is nice so it could be a great place if they were allowed to tear it down and rebuild. Adequate but won’t rush back.
Great stay
After reading a number of reviews, I wondered if things had slipped terribly since our last visit two years ago. Happy to report that the room was spotless, nothing smelled bad, the pool and hot tub were warm/hot, and we always had good service from the check-in staff. We were a group with 6 rooms, and we were all in the same hall as requested. Admittedly, the breakfast bags were underwhelming (though we got to choose from about 8 items what we wanted), it's not their fault they can't provide the hot meal anymore. Coffee available in room and the breakfast area, and plenty of places to sit outside. We'd definitely go again.
Great place to stay
This is a great place to stay. The rooms were clean, the accommodations nice, and the hotel staff was extremely outgoing and caring. We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Each were quiet and comfortable.
