Can’t go wrong with the location.
Staff went above and beyond, granted us late checkout for a later flight. Friendly faces and welcome reception. No housekeeping during Covid, but even at hotels that offer it we usually decline it. Yes the decor is funky and dark but it’s part of the charm, and matches several “out there” museums in the area. With the shades drawn the room is just as lit as any other hotel. Bathroom is nice and actual room was spacious. Would definitely return due to its perfect location close to great food on market street, independence hall is literally less than a minute walk away. And it’s across from the second Bank of America with a great portrait gallery. About a 5 minute walk the other way is penns landing and the river for more great scenery. No need to stay in other parts of philly as you can walk everywhere or use the metro if you need. Even city hall is only 0.6 miles away. Don’t overlook this hotel, it’s perfect for the value.
Excellent Stay at the Renaissance Philadelphia
My Friends and I stayed at this Property due to location. it’s near everything that is walking distance the staff was wonderful and very informative. Tracey at Front desk who I spoke with earlier made sure she blocked my friends and I next to each other with beautiful view without asking. My friends and I was very pleased with our rooms. Giancarlo who was concierge frontdesk receptionist was also very helpful and informative. He made us very comfortable and I had a few issues and he quickly resolved them. My friends and I will definitely be back to Philly and plan to return to this particular property again, such a lovely staff and beautiful decor. 😊
Perhaps the Weirdest decor in all of Marriott
We stayed at this hotel for twoI days while I was an outpatient at Wills Eye. Great location. Near multiple restaurants, tourist and historic attractions. It is comfortable and quiet. The staff are accommodating and first class. Sounds good, right? So why wouldn't I ever stay here again. Enter the lobby. Dark dreary done in dark browns grays and black. The reception desk is tucked into the left hand corner. Up steps behind a wall. Hard to find. The elevators, doors close and you are suddenly staring at a door to the Eastern Penitentiary. You know the one. Its on TV all the time about ghost stories. Supposed to be haunted! Exit elevator and enter a dark hallway. Supposedly lighted by old Philly gas lamps. But the room is best of all. Large room done in black and charcoal. Furniture is sparce and there are empty spaces where chairs or a sofa ought to be. Bed is comfortable and the bathroom is spacious and of course done in pure black with white tile shower. The restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesday but there are plenty of choices in walking distance or delivery. This hotel has so much going for it. But it is so dreary there is no way I would return. And the sad part is the decor is new. It is supposed to represent the streets of old Philadelphia. Make sure your Prozac rx is up-to-date. Its a very depressing place.
Great location to see the historic sights.
The hotel is right in the middle of everything, and all of the sights are in easy walking distance. I recommend parking in the lot behind the hotel, which is significantly cheaper than using the valet. We did not use our car the entire visit. The hotel was clean and quiet. However, the decor is very dark - black and grey walls make the room dimly lit so that it was difficult to see. I also would have liked a room with a better view than the alley. The bathroom light was broken and never fixed despite our phone call to the front desk. Overall it was a good experience.
What's not to like?
I recently spent a night at the Renaissance Hotel during a recent trip to Philly to visit family. I checked in fairly late (close to 10pm) and unfortunately was at the hotel less than 24 hours. My room was huge (TWSS)! Loved the chaise lounge and large flat screen TV. Beautiful view of the park. The room was clean. Special thank you to Gerrell and Giancarlo at the Reception. I had such a peaceful night's sleep. Would love to return to take advantage of the pool (which was closed) and the bar in the lobby area. Nice trendy decor. Highly recommend! The hotel is conveniently located to many sites in Philadelphia, all within walking distance.
