More about the hotel
Better than I thought
I stayed here a couple of months ago. Didn’t expect much, considering it’s only 800/night in Phuket (Usually everything here is expensive, and expensive doesn’t mean good). It’s a lot better than I expected. The room is nice and clean but the plumbing smells a bit but that’s quite normal for an inexpensive hotel in Thailand, so I’m not that bothered. Personally, I really like the little sitting space in front of the room on the first floor, looks quite nice and cozy. And the staffs are actually nice if you get to talk to them for a bit.
A great place to stay and half the price of the "competition"
First of all I should say that until recently, I always stayed at the Blue Carina which is about 30 meters down the street whenever I was in Phuket on business. However they have recently doubled their price. I guess this is because they have done a deal with Chinese tour groups who are bused in. If you are looking to walk around and explore the area where you are staying, these hotels are not for you. There are far more interesting and beautiful areas to spend your time in Phuket. If on the other had if you are planning to spend your time going on excursions and visiting sights and beaches of Phuket, this is a central location to base yourself. As for the benefits, the hotel is right next to Big C and within walking distance of Central Festival also if you have the bad fortune to need a stay at Phuket Hospital, it is also right there so it's a good place for friends or relatives to stay. If you are into shopping or eating then Central Festival is close by and you can take care of anything you need at the multitude of shops there. As for the hotel, the staff is kind and helpful and the rooms were fine but the mattresses were hard as stated in another review here. However I was fine with that and as for my wife who wasn't , the hotel provided an extra mattress for not only her but for me as well(free of charge) I'm not sure about why one of the other reviewers here had such a negative time. We booked the cheapest room and it was fine with plenty of hot water and a flat screen t.v. with at least 5 english channels. We also had a small balcony. When I read the review by Tommy and Me Cafe, I figured we were staying at two different hotels, but he mentions the hard mattresses and Big C next door, so it's the same place so it's a good idea to read all the reviews here on Trip Advisor. Different people have different experiences I've found in my travels. Another nice touch was the salt water pool so no chlorine! As I mentioned, I usually stayed at the Blue Carina down the street which has a lovely garden around the pool. For me that was not worth double the price since I didn't hang out at either hotel. I was happy to discover Baan Suan, same location, rooms as nice or nicer and as I said half the price!
Great place to stay
It's a great place to stay, as simple as that. The pool is amazing, the staff is super-friendly, the hotel is quiet, rooms are clean and and just has a gorgeous vibe about it. The prices are low, but the value you get is amazing. It's also 1 minute walk (or less) from the International Hospital. It's so close, you can get to the hospital via a gate at the back of the hotel! Definitely a place I recommend and will go back to.
Stayed here while partner was in hospital
Some of the kindest people I have ever met. The hospital staff helped to check me in as my boyfriend was admitted to the ICU. The hotel staff were friendly, rooms were clean and most importantly for me, it was a one minute walk to the hospital. The pool was very relaxing. The hotel was a nice, quiet place for me to catch a few hours sleep during a hard time. I'm very grateful to them. The hotel staff even sent me a card once I arrived back home to wish us well. There are some restaurants nearby, otherwise, it's located in a part of town that is a bit quiet.
Simple hotel..but what do you expect for the price
Arrived at the hotel and even though i paid the extra Baht to be in the newer section, i was placed in the older part of the hotel. The bed was like a rock (2 single beds in the room) the shower was cold and the drain smelt, the tv was an old box type thing (with no USB so forget playing movies or anything in English) and the air conditioner was very noisy and had one setting, Extremely cold. after 2 nights, i had enough and went to ask to check out early, as i was not sleeping (even though i went to bigc next door and bought a mattress topper) also i had said on the booking form that there would be 2 adults, 1 child but was allocated 2 single beds. the hotel manager spoke to me and explained they wouldn't allow me to check out unpaid, however would move me to a different room. i checked into a new room with better hot water system and a mattress topper, king bed but was charged $1200 baht extra for my daughters bed (im not sure why considering i said on the booking form that there would be 3 of us) the ac was still really noisy. The pool was lovely, the location was good for closeness to the hospital, BigC etc dont bother calling the restaurant on the menu in the room, they have closed down. They also need to get rid of those roosters! The coffee was good at the little cafe in the same building.
