Time for refurbishment and overhaul
The location is magic. Set in the heart of town at the Via de Rossalina number 26, overlooking the Orcia Valley, there aren’t many hotels that can beat it’s view and setting. Being in the middle of the town, which is in a ZTL, you can’t reach it by car. Not to practical if your traveling with your family. The hotel could have informed us that it is possible to enter the Via della Mura to unload at one of the appointed parking spots, but their scarce abilities in English made them refrain from that. The hotel itself is in dire need of refurbishment and overhaul. It’s being enthusiastically cleaned with chlorine these days, but that can’t hide there is a lot of decay going on. Our first room had a broken bed that I fixed for the night. The next day we where given the adjacent room, which was fine. The mattresses are totally shot. So make sure you stay maximum of two nights, or your back won’t be pleased. The hotel is very noisy, so be aware of that.
Meh
Really interesting location in the cloisters. Room was fairly small and a small bathroom with tiny shower which after our walk didn’t seem big enough. Room was superior but presumably that was for the view. Quite spectacular with the thunderstorm! Nice staff who were very helpful. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about compared to others in the area. Hint: have a drink at the bar in front of the Duomo called Idyllium - it is quite spectacular!!!!
Stunning views from the room
we stayed for 1 night in this hotel. The lady at check in was very friendly and helpful and all cheerful and smiley. The same could unfortunately not be said about the restaurant staff. The room was very basic, no frills or anything else but I guess that suits a chloister which is a place of modesty. The view from our windows was stunning: right over the Val d'Orcia so I could. just catch the sunset from our room! Breakfast was plentyful and very tasty and nice to have on the terrace with again the stunning view. Overall this hotel felt a bit impersonal and crowded, but for 1 night it was okay
Good hotel in a charming building
We stayed in this hotel two nights and it was a very pleasant stay in a very special building. The building was formerly a monastery and the history is very apparent. The breakfast was lovely (a great way to start the day) and the pool was perfect (a great way to end the day).
Nice location; very good breakfast but poor room standards with misleading descriptions.
We booked two nights in a "Superior Room" room size 215 ft² described by the hotel / booking agents as overlooking either the 15th-century cloisters or Pienza's historic centre. The price paid ( in advance -up front) for the 2 nights 8th-10th October 2019 was 118.75 Euros/night plus city tax - included breakfast. Rather than being superior the room was inferior insofar that the window area was limited to only 8 sq feet making the room dark. This was made worse because rather than a view of the "cloisters / historic centre" the room directly face a very high back alley wall only 8 feet from our tiny window. I complained to the reception lady who said that this was the only room available. After our complaint the receptionist showed us two more rooms next door that were marginally better but still unsatisfactory. There was loud noise in the outside alleyway until midnight . The receptionist arranged for our second night to be in a room on the next floor and this was better and in line with what we had been led to understand. Notwithstanding the above the breakfast quality and breakfast staff were excellent. Moreover the view from the rear hotel terrace and pool area was excellent. We decided not to sample the restaurant for dinner in part due to the downside effect room problem at the outset and unhelpful restaurant staff.
