Don't miss this gracious condo hotel ....................
Reviewed 26 january, 2017
For the past 10 years I have been here at D'Angelos as a guest for 3 months. And, the same staff have been attentive and friendly all these years. Water, linens, large screen TV (with English channels) and any comfort I have at home is available here. The Pesso goes 'forever' in this coszy area of 5th Ave (the upscale area of Playa del Carmen) in exchange for the US $. The owners Angleica and Oscar extend themselves to make your Mexican vacation more than the usual. This little bit of heaven is a small 8 Unit Hotel Condo with a 24/7 security system and guard all night. We walk about town and to the beach near by daily. No other rental in the area offers so much to a guest. We hope to return for the next 10 years and enjoy these same pleasures. Don't miss a stay at D'Angelos.

Stayed here for 9 nights. The rooftop pool was excellent for an afternoon dip to cool off after a day marching around playa. About 15-20 mins walk from the beach and the main 5th Ave. Near the motorway but was never a hassle and was a great place to get a cab anywhere. Highly recommend it has been renovated to a high spec. With still more possibilities.

Nice location in Playa del Carmen

We got a good deal but that placed us in a studio on the ground floor which was a disappointment. It was mid February and a busy time for them and it was going to cost a lot to upgrade so we stayed in the assigned unit. It would have been cheaper to upgrade at the time we made the reservation. At first we thought it was going to be noisy as the property is right off busy 5th Ave but we never heard any noise. The unit is no frills but adequate and more importantly clean. There was a smell of maybe disinfectant? We were given only one key for the two of us. When hubby got tired of shopping, he'd return to the hotel first with the only key. Fortunately, the guard who recognized me would open the gate to the property when I returned later. I also liked the guard being there for security. The office personal were very capable and professional. We had a rental car and they told us where to park off street and we didn't have problems. They also gave us discount coupons for a breakfast buffet at a local place- it was very good though Sunday was a very busy day for them. The crowd died down on weekdays. The weekday buffet wasn't as plentiful but it was not packed like Sunday - so a trade-off. The location is very good with shops and restaurants just right outside the property. It is not beach front since it fronts 5th Ave but since we stayed at a beachfront condo in Cancun the week before, we didn't miss the beach.

Great place to stay

This is our 2nd time staying here, in the same large suite on the ground level, (I can't recall the name of it). We like this place because it's easy to find parking nearby for free, which is useful to us because we always rent a car, and because it's sort of at the beginning of where 5th Ave comes alive. It's a nice secure condo, it has a security door, that you can only enter through if you're buzzed in from the inside, or if you have a key, and there is razor wire above so no one can climb over and hop the fence to get in. The front desk staff are always helpful and friendly, although we don't usually need much from them. The unit we get has a washer and dryer which is great because we can just wash our clothes whenever we want, the full kitchen is nice too we can make lunches and pack them if we're going to be at the beach all day, or we can make something at night if we're too tired to go out. It's close to a drug store if you need to pick up snacks, or water, or sunscreen, and close to a side street on 5th Ave where taxi drivers hang out so that's convenient if you don't rent a car of your own. The only negative thing I have to say about this place, from our last stay is that we found 3 cockroaches in the small bathroom, two one day and one the next. The hotel was nice enough to give us some spray, but it was still nasty in my opinion. The other issue we had was when we checked in, the sliding glass door in the bedroom was unlocked, and we couldn't get the key to work to lock it, we had to have the maintenance guy help us. Three days later when we came back from being out all day we noticed the door was not only unlocked again, but open a good foot or so. The front desk people were gone for the day so we waited until the next day to ask and she just blamed it on housekeeping saying she must have left it open. None of our things were missing, but we had mosquitos EVERYWHERE and as a result we have bites everywhere. All in all I would still stay here again we've always been happier than not here.

Great as always

This was our third time staying here. We enjoy staying here because it's right off 5th Avenue but away from all the loud music and people. Yes it is small and private, but that is something we enjoy. We stay in the suite and it was updated from last year, so they look even better. We eat out for most of the time but it's nice to know that the kitchenette is available to use. New fridge was nice. They also provide clean filtered water to drink, which is nice. Playa has grown a lot and 5th Avenue is getting very modernized. The only disappointment was the change of beach clubs. We are beach people and we used to love hanging out at Mamita's beach but its become a club now and roudy at times, but all customers staying at D'Angelos would get lounge chairs and a discount if you purchased drinks etc. Plus it was very close. But they have new clubs who they affiliate with or work with. But anyhow we love staying here, it's safe and secure, clean and so far have had no problems. Staff is courteous and affordable.
