I visited this hotel with trepidation after reading recent bad reviews but was very pleasantly surprised and had a great time. I really can’t understand how anyone can give this place such bad reviews. Our room was very good and the gardens and pools were very well tended. The hotel was closed for a year because of the pandemic so there are minor decorative things which need tending to but nothing major and the overall impression was very good. We enjoyed all of the restaurants plus the buffet and always managed to find something to suit our tastes. We particularly like seafood, vegetables and fruit but there was food to suit everyone in our opinion. The staff were friendly and hard working and overall we found our stay to be great value. We love wildlife and enjoyed seeing and hearing a great variety of birds there as well as Iguanas and the Coaties. The Coaties were a highlight for us and we loved seeing these gentle inquisitive animals in the gardens and trees. We would definitely return.
Mixed bag but overall, very good at what counts

First stay Jan 2022 after many stays at other resorts in the area and Cancun. Somethings are very good and some are not-you have to decide what is important to you. Here is my take based on what is important to me. What was Good: The food was very good. We actually only ate at the buffet as it was a short 3 night stay and did not want to waste time with long lunches/dinners. The buffet food was really good in variety and quality. Service in the restaurant was also good/attentive. The grounds are beautiful and clean. The Covid mask wearing policy is enforced. The activities are plentiful and fun even if you are only observing. We had some good laughs. There are bars everywhere and the bartenders are very accommodating. Very easy to get a drink. Beach service was attentive and friendly. Brought drinks to our chairs we pulled into the water! The beach right in front of the hotel is not swimmable however if you walk south 5 minutes to the beach in front of the sister resort, it is lovely with lots of soft sand to have fun in the water. The Not So Good: We were never able to order room service. They did not answer their line or it was busy. Always-no matter what time you called. Frustrating. The pools are not heated and our swimout was adjacent to a pool which is shaded from 11am onward which means COLD. Luckily the sea was warm and that is where we planted ourselves however the upgrade to swimout (Platinum, building 5, room 5006) was a complete waste of money. Weird odds & ends: No washcloths & impossible to get beach towels so we used the ones we got on check in throughout our entire stay, and they never completely dried. Unable to take food from buffet "to go" except drinks where they are able to provide a paper cup. Our mini fridge was NEVER restocked the entire time we were there (and they charge you if you call for a restock versus allowing their daily restock, which again, never happened). WIFI is weak but who cares and you can pay for "good wifi" if you really need it. Not enough hooks in the room to hang things up like towels and bathing suits, to dry. A/C is so powerful we had a very difficult time regulating the room to anything but door open warm or freezing. But freezing is better than weak AC. The room could use more storage places for clothing. The resort chose looks over function which is fine for a short trip but would be aggravating for a long trip. We had a room with 2 beds (full size-not quite queen) and there was one nightstand between them. For 3 people, this was less than ideal. Safety: Our sliding glass door did not lock and our first night, someone (drunk woman) attempted to enter at 2:30am. Floors outside the room/hallways, walkways are slippery. Exterior painting done on our area of the building ran in the rain right down onto our deck chairs and into our swimout pool. If anyone dared go into that "milky white pool" their health would be at risk as they would be swimming in paint. After all that is said, I would return for a good deal online because the food, drinks and facilities are very nice. I would not get a swimout in building 5 but maybe building 4 away from the main pool (lots of loud music, games, foam party all in big pool attached to building 3) or just a non swimout room.
A 10* Resort

There is nothing negative to say, believe me! Everything is simply outstanding. Spent 1 week in Nov 2021 with husband and friends. Food, room, hotel, drinks, service, pools and assistance from the General Manager was top notch. Beach was ok but had day beds everywhere, really clean and well kept. Would go back anytime. We went with Sunwing and had a great price, will not see this again.
Fantastic resort - Highly recommended. I am a Travel agent and my wife and I were extremely impressed.

Let's start by saying I am spoiled and get to see a lot of resorts. This resort is amazing, now let's keep in mind Mexico beaches are not the best. This beach was ok but the rest of the resort was truly amazing. The layout is phenomenal. Lobby located in the middle and 4 min walk to main party pool and 3 to 5 min walk for the restaurants and theatre. Lots of activities around the pool and at night in the main bar. Food was ok. Great presentation overall but the beef tough and chewy. If you go for breakfast or lunch ask for Brian as your waiter, truly a kind gentlemen and wonderful service. If you need any help what so ever the bellboy Sergio was great. Says hi every time you pass and always asking if you need anything. The restaurant staff and bartenders was great and wish I could remember there names. The entertainment team was also top notch and very kind. Rafael in the entertainment was again another great gentlemen who constantly checked to see if me and my wife were enjoying ourselves and if we needed anything. I've never been to a resort where the staff were this great. We will be back and I will highly recommend this resort to all my client's. We upgraded to a swim out room building 4 and loved it - water was a little cold but then again the time of year we chose had a lot do with it but highly recommend the upgrade. Put it on your bucket list.
2nd time, great time

We travelled between January 5 to January 12th, 2022. It was an absolute blast. Met some amazing people both vacationing and working the resort. Shout out to Rosie and Jose at the quiet pool bar for being fantastic hosts. COVID-19 is definitely still a thing in Mexico but the resort does a fantastic job of implementing public health precautions while being lenient and accommodating enough at the right times that they never feel too strict nor too loose. Food is 10/10, Drinks 10/10, Service 10/10, Cleanliness 10/10, Grounds/ Landscaping 10/10. We travelled from Canada and brought the Switch Health PCRs which we highly recommend. You can do them in your room and get results in 30 minutes. We also bought travel insurance from Manulife just in case for only $33/pp which was great for peace of mind.
