This is a 2.5-star review that I rounded up, because I like Selina. Booked a private room for a quick turnaround, flying into Cozumel, staying in Tulum. Needed a place to break up the trip and work a full day, and Selina has always been good for this elsewhere. At 800 pesos a night for a private room, it's poor value for Playa del Carmen. Half of the city is available on Airbnb, and you can find much better private accommodations for the money. The room is tiny, basic, with shared bathroom in the hallway. It's also very noisy, although I can't fault Selina for that. Anyone familiar with Playa del Carmen will know better than to expect peace and quiet at this location, just off La Quinta. It's super convenient for the ferry and ADO terminals. They also promised me that breakfast was included when I checked in, but rhis morning couldn't find me on their list, so I had to pay for breakfast. Whatever. Staff are friendly. The crowd is typical Selina - very young and very white. They have a lot of activities available, like cenote tours, bike rental, etc., and prices look reasonable. WiFi is solid, and they let me use a lot of it on three devices for Zoom meetings and the like. I am unlikely to stay at this particular Selina again, but that's because I'm old. Dorms are probably a much better deal here, but I've been over dorms for more than a decade. Staying here felt like having Starbucks while you're away from home. You pay too much for a familiar, mediocre product, but aren't upset about either because you weren't looking for any surprises.
rude staff, bad internet

Fellow guests and volunteers at this hostel were a nice crowd. Unfortunately, the staff were far less pleasant and actually rude. If you don't mind being watched 24/7 by cameras and security personnel (all over the place), then you might still like this place but for me it was too much. Food portions were small, i usually had to get myself two meals to feel a bit satisfied. The internet in the co-work area was slow and unstable. Won't come back.
Incredible yoga and meditation classes here!

I go to Selina's for the yoga and meditation classes with the Canadian teacher called Mara. She's a really beautiful, down to earth soul who lives her life and teaching in integrity. I find this so important because many people in this field have a big spiritual ego about them which goes again the path. I've worked with many teachers over the years but I leave Mara's classes with a profound sense of peace and connection. Cannot recommend highly enough ❤️
Good location, good hostel with some little flaws

Great place if you want to be in the heart of Playa and also want to connect with other fellow travellers. The hostel is well located close to the beach and directly at the famous 5th avenue with all it's restaurants, bars, shops and tour operators. The hostel itself offers nice rooms, a pool, a bar/restaurant and daily events like karaoke nights, game nights, etc. They also have a dive shop (we really liked), a tour operator and a barber shop in their area. The staff was friendly and helpful although we had some problems extending our stay for instance because we got told different things by them all the time. Still a very good stay for us.
A great visit!

I spent 6 nights in Selina Playa del Carmen and had a great time! The location is absolutely incredible and the staff was very kind. Luis in particular was always a smiling face when I came in and by the end of my stay I’d consider him a friend! He gave me the best advice on places to eat, ways to get around, and must-sees in the area! I joined him and a friend one day to the Kantun-Chi Cenote EcoPark and it was definitely the highlight of my time there! I couldn’t be happier that I chose to visit this Selina location and crossed paths with him!
